Here is the link for craigs list. I am going to look at it friday.
Is it a martins? Is that a good price?
It looks in good shape to me but I am by no means a cage expert...lol

Very nice! Very roomy, too. Looks clean as well. Good deal as far as price goes. I guess the remaining question is, how many rats do you have? Plug the dimensions in to the cage calculator and go from there!

My only concern is that is says Drop-in Plastic Pan but the picture looks like galvanized to me.
Otherwise looks good and an OK price. The dimentions match the Martins's R-690 which will house up to 4 rats at 2 sq' per rat.

The 690 isn't exactly roomy. It's only 24"x14", and according to the cage calculator I used it's only good for 3.5 rats. I wouldn't put more than 2 in there. By the time you have a wheel, house, etc in there, I didn't think there was nearly enough room, and I only had 2 small 4mo old girls in it. It was also a PITA to clean since the doors are so small. If they've had it for 'a few years' $70 is way overpriced. It's cheaper than what Martin's would sell it to you brand new, but not by much. I sold mine for $45-$50 and I hadn't even used it a year.

I was thinking about putting my 2 girls in it. They are pretty small....I was told they were 6 months old so I am not sure of their exact age.
I guess that I will have to go look at it before I decide anything.
Thanks for everyones help tho :-)

If you only have two females, then that's great. It IS roomier than a lot of the cages they sell for rats in the stores.

Brand new, powdercoated the R-690 is $92.00 plus shipping. So $70 is much of a savings. But for 2 girls it would be fine. You will have to get very creative with your hanging of toys/hammies and the very steep ramps would need to be modified for older rats.

I think they copied the info off of Martin's web page, that is definately a galvanized pan...and they stain horribly. So you will most likely end up having to replace that pan very soon...so it may be better to just buy a new one. I have 3 girls in a 690 now, and I am waiting to get the new critter nation for them so they will have more room. It's not big enough for them in my opinion. they like to roam around, and once I get their hammocks and toys in there, there's not much room left for them.

The only thing I don't like about the R-690 is if you have a sick rat or when they get old... It could be difficult for them to get around. Other than that, I can't think of anything... Sounds like a good deal. I've been considering getting one.

The newer ones like I have are not like that anymore. The doors are huge and the ramps are not steep at all...but the one in the pic is an older one, so it is that way. Small doors, steep ramp, and galvanized tray.
