If I got a used FN for cheap than I wouldn't mind as much.

I agree. . .I'd be interested in purchasing the CN but at this point who knows when it's coming out. I purchased 1 new cage last month and am currently looking to buy another for the second group. The only way I'd consider purchasing an FN is if it was a great second hand deal, so that won't put money in the company's pockets at all. If I had access to ANY of the more pertinent information on the CN it could sway my decision. Right now we have no clue what the CN will cost or when it will be available for purchase.  Undecided

There is another option that is already on the market, I am just unsure how to go about getting it to you guys over there. I have a ferret kingdom. From what I see it is the same as the FN but with the bits that you want in the CN ... small bar spacing (my 4 week olds cannot get out) they are looking into a deeper litter pan, but it is the same size up a FK, both doors open fully like the FK, unlike the FF.

Here is a photo of mine. I have 4 of them now. I asked the supplier and she is happy to send to the US but you need to have an importer bring them in for you. If you had an organisation that would do this, then people could buy it from them??

I use towels on the trays as my rats rip up polar fleece overnight and by morning there is nothing left of it! lol I use these clips which I found at Officeworks here in Aus to hold them on. They come with an applicator and work FANTASTICALLY!

As my babies LOVE to dig I have made a deep pan for one of my FK's to allow litter.

I love that cage.  I do really wish it was available here.  I do have my FN and my girls are not escaping.  I would love to add a couple babies though.  Oh Well.

I'm sure the cost would be outrageous. How much does it cost you to buy one?

I'd love it, looks perfect.

I've seen that cage on ebay. It looks perfect, it's just the getting it here that's the problem. Undecided

I also found this cage on ferret.com. Looks like Marshall's getting into it now too. I don't know the bar spacing or anything on this one though.

It seems like the U.S. is just a little behind on getting an easy to clean, visually appealing, and spacious cage on the market. The UK has the Explorer, Aus has the Ferret Kingdom...which looks exactly like the Explorer...U.S. has the FN or the Fiesty Ferret, both having bar spacing too big to house babies or even adult girls. >.<; I broke down and am getting a martins off craigslist since there's no Critter Nation yet, so they didn't 'win' and still get money from me from waiting.

I just looked all over online and I can't find the bar spacing.  I may have to sit and count the bars then compare it to the FN.   Roll Eyes  I want to know...it looks like an awesome cage, very much like the FN which I love so much, but if the bar spacing is good for my girls and I can have that without having to modify...well, it'll be worth the extra $20 to me.  Nice find.

It's the same or very close, it looks like both have 15 bars in the door and I'm sure they're the same size.

I doubt anyone will make a ferret cage with 1/2 spacing lol.

10 years ago, when I first started with ratties, just about every web site with decent info I found was based in Australia or the UK...they are so far ahead of the US when it comes to the health and home of these little fuzzletts.  We need to get on the ball US, the Rattie Revolution is here, now!  Make a giant cage with good bar spacing for rats darnit!  And I mean GIANT!

I haven't been able to find it either, but it's probably the same as the FN. The US definitely does need to get into the game on the GIANT cages with good bar spacing! Hopefully, the CN will be out soon (or they'll tell us the release date soon), and it will be everything we need!

Okay, I'm out... my second Martins came the other day.

My roomate had a point the other night... we are all expectantly waiting for the RN (CN?) to come out.  It will weigh more than the FN, so shipping will be higher, and how do we know that they aren't going to gouge us when it comes to price?  I decided it wasn't worth waiting for a cage that might cost significantly more than the FN.

It's 1" - I emailed and asked. ferret.com only carries 1" spacing, according to their response.

Exact respomse:
Dear Stacy,

The spacing for the wire is 1", and there is only the one shallow tray available. all of our cages have 1" wire spacing.

Thank you

I have a ferret kingdom.

I just have a question about the ferret kingdom..
Do the ladders clip up like the FN so that you have 2 cages? Also, does the top cage come off so that it can be a completely separtate cage if you add in another pan?

I'm in Maryland, and one of the smaller pet stores here sells the Ferret Kingdom. I think the ladders clip shut, but I'm not sure if you can completely separate the top and bottom. It is a really nice cage, and the price (in my pet store at least) is only $175.

Could you find out if that pet store would be willing to ship and how much that would cost? (shipping to Washington 98366)

Adult girls can actually fit in the FN without any problems. If their on the really small side, I can see where they would escape. But I have 2 adult and 3 young females in the FN, and not one has escaped. I don't have mesh on the bars either.

Chiropteragirl was mentioning that there are not any quality rat foods on the market. Good news there actually, Onesta Organics is currently developing an all organic rat food. I emailed them last week and they said it would still be a while before it's available, but yes, their are currently working on it.

I have 17 girls, and they range from 100g to 450 g, the only ones who can not escape from the FN are the two 450g girls. So, while some females won't TRY to escape, they can indeed escape.

I agree.  My girls are in an FN also without modifying.  My biggest girl saw me coming toward the cage the other day and popped her head right through the bars.  I think it scared her as much as me.  They don't try to get out and she squirmed her wau back in really quick.  Now I know they definately could get out if they wanted though. Is it the same Ferret Kingdom though?  If you type that in google, what you get the most is a Ferret cage made here in the US that is not the same as the one pictured above.  It's this one...  http://www.ferret.com/item/super-pet-ferret-kingdom-with-stand/

That looks almost exactly like a SP Deluxe Multifloor Ferret cage, except shorter and more square. Are they running out of ideas for cages? I'm sure we can give them a few good ones...
