Let me know if anyone is interested--adoption fee is $15 per pair and an additional $25 for us to build a cage roomy enough for 2 rats if you don't have one already.  We can build bigger cages if needed too.

Bumping for these babies.  I just got a call about 10 more babies that need a place.  We have to move babies to make room for more.  They will end up at a pet shop for snake food if we cannot make room.   :'(

Well....guess what...one lady was supposed to be adopting Daphne (who's eye is all healed now) and the 4 rex and double rex boys but she waited until the last minute (while she was traveling by--she is 6 hours out) to phone and I wasn't home so now Daphne,Stewart,Blake,Curly and Maverick are looking for homes again! :-\  They are all such cuties and I am sure they will find homes but it is so frustrating that I have been holding them for a week for this lady and now....UGH!  Anyhow, sorry for the rant....if anyone would like some super cutie babies....I can hook you up.

PS.  The other 10 were all adopted by the original owner!  So that was good!

i know i'm still trying to place my own babies, but if you really need a place for some of the boys i have room to house them and food to feed them and attention to give them =)

Sorry Wolf, but as a rescue we do not adopt to breeders or people that are sending their own babies to a pet shop because they are going on vacation.  I really wish you could see that what you are doing is just not right.  Thanks anyhow.

i'm finding ways to get around the whole vacation thing and my parents with the rats. not like it'll redeem myself in anyone's eye, but they won't be going to the pet shop. it was only a last resort, and i'm finding ways around it. you have the decision to accept or reject anyone, and i have to respect that, which i do.

I am glad to hear that you have worked it out so they don't have to go to a pet shop! You don't have to redeem yourself in anyone's eyes.  You know if you are doing right and that is all that matters! 

i'm sure we've all known tough times and tough decisions. it would have been the last last resort. i'll just pile tons of food in the cage and all my parents will have to do is change the water bottles, which are outside the cages. i always try to do the right thing, and not only with the rats but in general. half the time things fall through because it's me. but i'm trying, and working around things. and i hope your kids find homes too =)

Hey Christine....sent you an email...I'm headed to OH on Sunday, 7/13 to pick up the rescue girls for OUR rescue (they already have a home~yippee!) and I'd still like Stewart, Maverick & Curly if they are still available and we can make the arrangements to meet up!

Well, if you need trasport help, I'm picking up Stewart, Maverick & Curly on 7/13 and bringing them back to Pittsburgh, PA.   :poke: (tempt, tempt) 

I didn't let my hubby see the agouti boys because we recently got an agouti berk, my hubby's fav, and I think he'd have snatched up those two (Speedy & Teddy) and I'd have to give up 2 of the ones I wanted!   :rattysmiley:

Oops.  I did answer this is the PM. We will have an odd number since ANN is taking 3. LOL.  But Waffles has decided to hold off adding a rattie at this time.  So we still have 3 rattie boys looking for homes.

Thanks Julz.  I had to update and say that Blake is not chocolate-ish anymore..he is black again.  :-\

Those black berks always seem to get that rusty brown fur off and on, then it seems to stay as they age.  My Gino is a big wide berk!  Not fat, just W-I-D-E!  He looks like a big brute...hence the name 'Gino'.  Sounded like a 'muscle' name!   :yelcutelaugh:  Though he DID protect my tiny D'Marco (adult weighing only 364g) when I was doing intros with our newest, Nunzio.  Anytime Nunzi threatened D'Marco, Gino jumped right in. 

Woo-Hoo!  Pick up my boys tomorrow!  CAN'T WAIT!  Need yo go get my travel cage ready!  :rattysmiley: :BlueDumboSmile: :rattysmiley:

Sadly you don't have any girls...  :'( Or else I would adopt, if I could get a ride. I live smack in the middle of Akron and Canton.

I'm in love with Blake. I really wish that there was a way I could pick him up, but I don't have the means to travel so far. He's absolutely adorable. I have a velveteen dumbo named cheerio and black mink named crunch, and the boys are just a little older than Blake. I have a super soft spot for Dumbos. Good luck. He is so precious, i hope someone close can give him a great home.  :BlueDumboBigEyes:

I do have a couple of baby girls but with a ferret nation you would need to cover it or they would be able to escape.  They are still very tiny. 

I also have two young adult females but one has a tumor that will be seen by our vet on Monday afternoon.  Hannah and Lola can be seen on our site too. www.nikitaswish.org

If anyone knows of a transport going through your area to near my area (VA), please let me know. I am very very interested in adopting Blake. If not, I definitely understand. Good luck!

I live in kentucky but am going to zanesville ohio on the 28th. I am always in the market for newbie rat brothers and sisters! Im not sure how far from you zanesville or even columus would be but please let me know if you still have any up for adoption of anyone else for that matter that may be close to me. Thanks!

We still have Blake,Speedy and Teddy.  As well as Ethel, Esther, as well as Chloe and Sophie can go with Chloe if the adopter doesn't have another rattie already but she doesn't have to go with her. 

well kent is about 2 hours away from my parents house. I will be there august 1st to the 3rd so if any of them are still available then I would like to give them a home. They will probably go to my neighbor since I am still looking for the perfect new home and she just lost 3 of hers. 2 died from old age and the other died giving birth. She was newly pregnant when she adopted her so she was around long enough to fall for. Sadest thing ever to lose a newbie family member.  :puppy_dog_eyes:

I am a little counfused as to why you want the rats we have for adoption when your uncle breeds rats and sells them at his pet shop,you have friends that breed too and you have 3 females of your own that are pregnant??

Well my friend Kyle and my uncle sell theirs through their shops and they are also in Texas. I just moved from there and thats where I usually got my rats. But now I am in kentucky so I dont want to drive for 20 hours to pick up some rats. My uncle can ship them to me but I think thats cruel. I dont know about you but I wouldnt want to suffer through 3 days in a bouncing box.....plus the babies I get from the females are promised to friends. And If I do decide to start breeding I dont want to knock up the mommy with her own baby.

"knock up"...well, as it turns out we are a rescue and do not adopt out to homes that intend to have any of our rats knocked up by anyone whether the babies will be food for friends' snakes or for pets...there are simply enough rats needing homes to make more...especially if you plan to take "any and all rats" to breed.  That is just wrong and very irresponsible. 

Well my adopted family will be pets ONLY. When I decide to start breeding, if I do, I will get my breeders from a trusted friend. I am only looking to adopt more to add to the family. I have 3 pregnant rats but I also have 22 people wanting one. I am waiting until after that to see if they will get good homes before I let it happen. And like I said the adopted family will not be for breeding only loving  :BlueDumboSmile:

I am SO glad to hear that!  There are just so many animals in need to add to it.  I am sorry if I sounded judgemental...I am just very passionate about animals and what the very best for them and it sounds like you do too.  I am guessing once you do some research that you will decide breeding is not a good idea.  There is wealth of info here on this board that can help you make a final decision.  I, personally, don't think I would be smart enough to breed correctly and prefer to spend my energy rescuing and maybe that is what you should look into.  Since you seem to really love rats.  You could work under a rescue and foster and adopt our the babies??  Either way, good luck with all you do!

Well just to let everyone know I am SERIOUS in the market for some Dumbo brothers or sisters. They are the CUTEST! My preggo sisters are half dumbo and Roxy (my eldest) is dumbo.....so cute. Those big ol ears just steal my heart, lol. I mean really now..  :BlueDumboBigEyes: = LOVE
