It's warm enough that my birds get to go into the backyard  and play (all wings clipped and we did several test outtings last year so very tiny chance of escape). They missed going out through the long New England winter that never ended and still trying to come back.  When we pass by a window on a walk around the house, they would get all excited thinking they would be going out. Well there was a break in the weather a couple months ago where it got a 65 (right before another snowstorm) and these are the pics from then.  Ignore the dates.
Thanks to Petey's clingy need, the birds got a work out. Popper ran the whole length of the yard to escape. They went back and forth several times before he gave up and let Petey hang (this is what started an agressive search for a buddy for Petey).

Popper (hates other birds) is trying to outrun Petey who has major bird separation anxiety issues. You can still see Petey in the pic running to catch up as Popper thinks he's free.

Petey: "Pleeeease don't leeeeeave meeeeee!! He left me. *sigh* Now I have nothing to do but yell and whistle very loudly until Mom gives me millets" (which he got)

And of course, their favorite perch site:
Petey: "Look at me! I'm blending!"
Popper: "Yeah yeah, just stay back there and let me cluck to Mom. Hmm, I wonder if I should had used SPF 45 today."

Your birdies!!!  I miss my tiel Sad  But I'm going home on Wednesday so I'll see her soon enough Smiley

I wish I could take Piper outside... but I can never clip her wings short enough - she always seems to get some lift.  Plus I think I'd be totally paranoid the whole time.  I am very overprotective and neutrotic when it comes to Piper - I would definately drive myself crazy!

Yeah, the first pic looks Popper look out of breath from all the escaping Smiley
Yanno, Piper, you're just a commuter rail and one red line away...followed by a taxi ride away  Cheeky
Popper absolutely adores people and the attention he gets from it. He just can't stand birds.
They are too cute now on the new green grass. Popper LOVES just stomp in place.
When I bring them in, their beaks are so green from eating.
And I'm finding I have to use bribery to get them off the stump above. They love it too much and will bite if you remove them when they're not ready. Popper is now starting to climb a couple inches on the tree behind it and jumping down onto the stump.

What are the precautions that need to be taken when taking your birds outside? My 'tiel has seemed pretty bored and unhappy for a while now (he has plenty of toys, time out of cage, etc.). He hates anything new, but I'm trying to find some way to enrich his life.

His wings aren't clipped, so I wouldn't have him outside his cage, but I thought it might be fun one of these days to take the kiddo out in his cage to see if he'd like that. I've always worried about mosquitoes and other parasites, though...
