Recently (actually, since day one), we've had people posting about friends, family, co-workers, etc., seeking advice, or just needing to vent... but lately, the posts have been getting more personal than maybe they should be on a public forum.
I know sometimes we need to vent, or we need to bounce things off others to try to figure out what to do... but doing this on a public forum can turn around and bite you in the butt -- especially if the person being discussed happens to come across the thread about them.
I'd like to officially ask that people PLEASE, if you must vent or seek advice, refrain from using REAL names. If you think the person in question would be incredibly upset to find that you are airing their personal lives to a bunch of strangers on the internet, you may want to rethink creating the thread at all.
Likewise, NEVER post contact information for someone without their express permission. That's a major privacy invasion -- anyone, literally ANYONE on the internet can pick that information up and abuse it. This forum can be read by anyone with internet access -- they don't need to join to be able to read, because, above all else, this forum's purpose is to teach people about rats.
I'm not trying to censor anyone or try to micro-manage the board... I'm just trying to protect those who are not here to protect themselves.
Thank you for your consideration.
