Hubby bought a new (well used) truck a couple weeks ago, so we need to sell his previous truck. He's had it listed on craigslist and now Autotrader for the past couple weeks.  The most promising lead so far is coming to look at the truck tomorrow.  He has already arranged financing with the bank and I've talked to the branch manager at that bank, so we know the guy and his cashier's check is legit.  Our impression is that he wants to buy it unless he finds some fatal flaw.  It would be very good if this person bought it since our tags and insurance are due at the end of the month.

So please keep your fingers crossed that this guy (and more importantly- his WIFE) like the truck and take it home!!  That would be such a huge relief for hubby and me and make it much easier to enjoy our vacation.

We haven't gotten any of those.  The most "spam-like" email we've received is a suggestion that we post it to another site that is specific to the make of our truck that "gets much more traffic" than craigslist.  Yeah, right.

This guy actually saw the autotrader ad.  So, if spending the money for that ad gets the thing sold, it's money well spent.

When i sold my Jetta, I posted it on a forum that was specific to older Volkswagens.  I did get a lot of interest in it but no one wanted it because it needed a new starter (they wanted a car that was cheap that they could drive away)

Anyway I hope everything works out Smiley

Well still have the truck.   Cry  The wife seemed to be happy with it, but the guy was doing some serious nit-picking and said hubby lied to him about the condition of the truck.  He was unhappy because of a couple small dings that you only see when looking from an angle and a couple small paint chips where small gravel has hit the truck.  I'm not sure what he expected in a 4-year-old truck with over 70k miles.  But if somebody's going to be THAT picky, they really should ask some detailed questions or request detailed pics before putting everyone through such hassle.  He even commented that a lot of people just don't see that kind of stuff on their own vehicle when they drive it all the time.  So if you KNOW that people tend not to see flaws you consider a show-stopper, then maybe you should ASK!!  Or say that you're looking for something perfect with no dings or scratches or chips.

When it was all done, I think both the guy and my hubby felt like they'd been seriously mislead.  But especially hubby since he turned down another offer based on the expectation this guy was serious about buying.

That sucks.  If the guy wanted a truck that was in perfect condition he should have looked at a used car lot or something first.

If you want a truck with no dings or chips, you need to be looking at 2006 or newer with <20k miles and be prepared to spend at least double what we're asking.  Especially in a 4x4.  Hell, even the 2007 that we just bought has a couple chipped spots - part of why it was such a good price.

Hubby is seriously depressed now.

Maybe that guy thought he was pulling a fast one by not paying much for a mint condition truck.  Being picky over a few dings is just ridiculous.  If it mattered that much I'm sure the body work wouldn't be that much considering how much body work is.

My truck is a 92 and it looks like hell but it runs great....lol

Well, when we talked to the bank manager Friday to verify the cashier's check, he said something that made me think this guy runs/owns a body shop.  So such minor body quirks really seem like it should have been manageable.  We're kinda leaning towards there was some other reason he didn't want to buy and was just looking for an excuse.  Most people would have at least considered a low-ball offer.  But he sure did a whole lot of extra driving to just blow it off.

We think we have it sold now.  For a lot less than this guy was planning to pay us.  For a lot less than the offer we put on hold a couple days ago in order to give this guy first crack.  We should have the cash Sunday or Monday.  But we've just come to the place that we just want to be done with it and it's not like anyone's pounding down our door.
