Ouch. >.< Now how did I manage that?

So, I think I broke my toe. I nearly fell down the stairs, and somehow in stopping myself injured my toe. I didn't bang it on anything, I had it bent under my foot and then kind of slid on it forward hard, and now it just keeps swelling up, and it's turning funny colors and hurts like you wouldn't believe.
It'll be fine eventually... I've broken toes before. I'm just amused at how clumsy I am.
What's your most impressive injury due to clumsiness?

Does injury due to stupidness count? lmao *re-posts story I typed on another site right after it happened*
"Ok. So im sitting here, typing a responce to my cage question, and my dog starts barking. At first I ignore it because, well, she barks at everything.. .. but, she kept it up, and even started growling.
So I got up, turned off my tv, and listened. I heard something outside the house making noise and sounding like it was trying to get in... I panic a little, because Im here by myself, but quickly come to my senses and grab the phone- ready to dial 911 if there is a robber or something trying to brake in. So phone in hand, I quickly peak around the corner, trying to see if im going to have to go into karate mode or not. Its was the neighbors dog.
I was so relieved that I wasn't going to be murdered, that I did something so stupid.. I put my phone on the table, and went outside, trying to make sure that the dog wasn't loose and going to get hit by a car or something.. I shut the door behind me, and grabbed the dog (tiny little white fluffy thing) and tromped over to the neighbors (barefoot in the ant filled grass) and it turned out he was standing in his yard all along. I hand her over, and start back towards the front door.
So I get there, silently swearing under my breath (by then I was bitten up by ants and stiffling hot) I realized that I locked myself out. I was so mad at myself.. I had totally forgotten about the door, and I had set my phone down inside before I went out to catch the dog. After all that I was still being slightly optimistic.. I mean.. maybe the side or back door was open.. So I went through ANOTHER patch of grass barefoot.. but the side door was locked.. I went around to the back door, and basically threw myself at it (the deck around the back door is HOT) luckily, it was open... Otherwise I would have had to walk over to the neighbors house yet again.. or better yet.. jump in the pool..
My grandparents got home an hour later.. and are still laughing at me.. That concludes my adventure for the day.. Tune in tomorrow- Im sure to do something just as humiliating.. I swear- Its a good thing I can laugh at myself.. I do things like this (unintentionally) on a daily basis.."

Lets see,
1- tripping over an old-school ball return at the bowling alley and dropping a six pound ball on my thumb at age 5?
2- tripping over a (single) step the niight before Easter and breaking three bones in the foot at age 7?
3- dismounting a bike less-than gracefully - a week after getting out of the last cast - and breaking two bones in the other foot?
4- falling down a neighbor's steps and breaking my collar bone at age 11?
5- falling up a set of concrete steps in the rain in my mid thirties - another broken foot?
6- the horse went left and I didn't (she thought the chipmunk was going to eat her) resulting in a broken elbow in my mid 40's?
The toes I don't count, as mostly they were broken by large animals standing on them. And I never had the nose x-rayed after diving into a neighbor's pool at the wrong depth.
I did do a pretty spectacular unauthorized dismount early in my adult riding career when a stirrup leather broke on me at a canter. I actually cartwheeled off the side of the horse (it had to be around a corner, didn't it) into six inches of water on wet sand. A spectaor friend gave me a 9 for the dive (and yes, I washed off, borrowed a shirt, and got back on. I was lessoning with my 7 and 10 year olds).

Dancing. Yep, I was having too much fun dancing to Footloose, lost my balance and fell backwards. I just KNEW I'd be able to stop myself, but then the dancefloor had a sudden drop off and down I went. I had some fun casts though!

These are funny! Here's one. Picture me, 8 months pregnant on Christmas Day. I have 3 other kids that are screaming and fighting(we are at grandma's house) so, I run in to break it up and my foot got caught in one of those bead toys like they have at DR's offices. I fall flat on my face and scream! Kids all think it is a little funny! All the adults run in thinking I'm in labor
Well, ends up I broke the bone on the top of my foot. Luckily hubby is a fireman and knows people at the hospital. Got us in and out quick anyway. Since then, I don't allow bead toys in my house

These are funny. I burst out laughing at Julz' and it's making me feel less stupid.
(And I don't even want to think about how many times I've tripped over toys.

It's nice to know I'm not the only clumsy one. I've fallen UP stairs before! Only a few, but the face plant was not fun. Let's see, what else....oh yeah, I used to be in the Air Force, and we landed in Keflavik, Iceland. I was 18, and it was my first time there. They failed to tell me that that nice shiny black flightline was covered in a nice thin slippery layer of ice. I stepped off the ladder of the plane and immediately landed on my rear end. The bus with the rest of my crew were all laughing like school girls at me.
I also got bit by a black widow when I was 5 because I was playing with it...yeah, playing with it.
I have some good stories of a guy I worked with that we called "Lucky." He is a legend at Dover AFB. hahaha. He was SOLL II, which is special ops low level flying on the plane I worked on...the C5, that giant monstrosity you see at sir shows with the nose that opens up. Anyway, he was on a mission where they had parachuters jumping out of one of the side doors. Lucky had his harness on and was strapped to the floor so he wouldn't fly out the door too...he didn't have a parachute on. The guys start jumping out....Lucky realizes that there is a loop in his harness, and he's got too much slack, he tries to tighten it...but he ends up getting tangled up and falling out the door...still strapped to the floor of the airplane. he was only out 2 feet or so, but he was being hit on the side of the plane in flight until the rest of the jumpers could drag him in. That's how he got his name...but it doesn't end there.
The C5 airplane has a cargo compartment with a ladder in front to the flight deck, and one in back that goes to where you keep passengers. Lucky loaded pallets on the plane. Well, the last pallet on the side with the rear ladder was not locked in properly, but he didn't know this. The plane sped up down the runway to take off, and of course, that pallet broke loose and slid on the rollers, knocking the ladder off. 73 military members stuck on the top of a C5. The base they were at did not have a large stair truck, so they all had to climb down a rope to get down. They were not all fit and trim...a large portion of them were old veterans going on vacations. So...that was interesting. I wasn't there, but the legend went around my squadron.
This guy ended up being an evaluator!!! He had to make sure I was doing my job right.
One more thing...this happened to my husband. he's gonna kill me for this.
He used to be a dog baither at PetSmart. Well, on his first day, he was bitten....by a puppy miniature pincher. He came home and told me that, and the loving wife I am, I laughed.
During his time at that job, he ended up going to the ER twice with dog bites...that's a dangerous place!

I have no clue how I got on the table!
I had my ways when I was little
Oh, another:
I use to play a game on the bed with my dad when I was 5, where he sorta flung me around
Once I rolled when he flung me because I thought it would be more fun (this is my fault completely) and I scraped my cheek on the dresser, and now I have a scar

I was about 8 and my brother and I were outside playing. We found a tree with a rope attatched and I thought it would be fun to swing on it. Yeah, well, the rope was definitely rotted. I swung, and it broke. I fell 10ft onto pavement and broke my collarbone.

I'm a little amazed that I've managed to reach the tenth grade without a single broken bone. I've been badly cut, yes, to the point of stitches, and my most painful injury by far is pulling a quad in seventh grade (ouch). I've been known to leap mountain-goat style down steep rocks on a mountainside, not one of the most intelligent choices to make, I know, looking back; especially when we're a few miles of hiking away from the road. I'm just good on my feet.
Oh well. My only ER injury is when my father gave me permission to use a deadly sharp pocket knife to open a package before the third grade
and I accidentally slashed myself halfway down my forearm. Twenty-four whole stitches. Now my arm has grown without the scar keeping up, but it's a nasty three-inch knotted white centipede down the inside. The remnants of stitching are still very visible. I'm just fortunate that it's on the inside, close to my body.
And I didn't cry. Not once. I even said "cool!" when I looked over at the unfinished stitching job in the ER. I'm just that kind of child

When I was five, my mom was at a friends apartment getting ready to leave, I was on the stairs going up and down them two steps at a time, I fell and had an argument with the doctor about how he would not let me have a green cast.
Then when I was twelve I rode my four-wheeler into a tree and broke my other arm.(But I got a green cast this time
)
Oh yeah, I don't know when but I hurt my nose and now I can make it move in the weirdest ways

For any of you out there that read the Harry potter books, call me Tonks, that's the nickname my brother gave me.
I'm a bit of a klutz. I've never broken,or sprained anything,never gone to the ER,though I'm still a tad klutzy.
-I was just walking once, and my leg fell asleep,so I fell down, flat on my face. Wasn't totally my fault, but when I got back up,I tripped anyways, just because.
-Last Winter,a friend of mine and I were sliding across a large,iced-over baseball field at our school,I was walking along, and slipped, the ice under me broke, and I scraped my face with the ice.
-I was walking up some stairs at my sister's house, and decided it would be fun to slide down them(They were carpeted.). So I sat at the top,and started to slide down, but wouldn't slide down for some reason,I suddenly fell down, head first,my head slammed into the wall. Nothing serious, though I was sore after that.
-Another time,I was jumping up the stairs two,or three at a time, when I reached the top,I jumped again,to find there were no more stairs to go up. I hit my face on the wall in front of the stairs.
-I was on our swing-set once, and wanted to see how high I could swing,. I went higher, and higher, the swing flipped over completely,I landed on my head, got up,and
tripped over the swing!
..Somehow.
-My brother and I were on our bikes once,I got off to fix my helmet or something, and set my bike down on the ground, since the kickstand doesn't reach the ground for some reason.
My brother said something to me,I started to walk towards him,and completely forgot about my bike, and tripped over it,landing on the cement, and cut my face. I'd like to see a bike helmet protect my head from THAT kind of thing!
-A weird moment here, this one time I was just sitting in a chair, and suddenly fell off,NO IDEA how.
-Ah,you won't believe the numerous times I've tripped while playing DDR,the mat slides around sometimes, causing me to trip, and fall on my back. Ouch.
-I have a over-energetic little sister, who likes to run around the kitchen table, see where this is leading?
I was chasing her around, and suddenly tripped over something..It was the table leg.
-My little sister is constantly leaving sharp, little plastic toys out,I trip over them ALL THE TIME. It drives me crazy, almost more than my mom who is a neat freak.
-I was walking the dog once, and started to run,I tripped of course, and was bleeding the whole way home.
-I was typing something,(I think it was on here.
*Nerd moment* )and tried to push the desk chair back, for some reason,it wouldn't budge. I put my hands on the desk, and pushed, the desk chair tipped backwards,I fell, and hit my head on the cat food dishes that are behind the computer desk,it hurt an awful lot,and both bowls tipped over, getting wet cat food in my hair.
I've got quite a few others, these were just ones off the 'top of my head.' Get it? I've hurt my head an awful lot of times,so..yeah.
Whoa,wrote a lot here,see how many times I've tripped,and injured myself? ::0

I've never had serious injuries but I've done stupid things. (Does list like fluffy.)
-I was at the top of some carpeted stairs. I was singing while wearing golashes(sp?) and lost my footing. I flew down the stairs and almost hit my head on the rollerblades. Luckily my step-dad caught me before it did.
-I was learning to ride my bike on a school field. I decided to ride up towards the front of the school and rammed right into one of the columns, though I managed not to hurt my face.
-Once I tried to ride my bike with ONE hand.*sighs* I fell and my bike rammed into the ground so hard I made my handelbars crooked.
-I was in my bedroom playing Sims2(shocker) I was kinda leaning in my wheely chair. I fell backwards, picked myself up, and continued to laugh as my parents stared at me.
-My mom stood on one leg, on a wheely chair, in front of a window that's up two-stories, while she is hanging curtains. *sighs again* Luckily she didn't get hurt, but I mean come on!

I have done lots of things but this is the only one that ended up with serious injuries. I managed to seriously break my arm while swimming when I was about 10.
Backyard, 4' above ground pool, older sister baby sitting, I'm playing in the pool with one of my friends. I hop up on the edge of the pool to 'dive' back in and instead of into the pool I fell backwards. And fyi, all around the outside of the pool is lawn, no deck or patio stones or anything, so who knows how I broke things.
I do not know all the technicalities of what I did to my arm but I know I broke both bones in my lower arm down near my wrist and I shattered pretty much everything in my elbow, including an unclosed growth plate.
I had surgery to put all the pieces back together and I wore a cast for a VERY long time. I missed an entire year of gym in school, which to me was a good thing.
As you can imagine my sister did not appreciate me doing this while she was baby sitting.
The only other thing along those lines I remember was also while my poor sister was baby sitting. I was using a pocket knife to drill a hole in a Popsicle stick. The knife closed on my fingers. Ooops.
I am a klutz though. I am always injured in some way or the other. I too fall up stairs, etc.

The knee injury was when I got tacked in flag football, it so does not count on MY stupid list.
But, on my stupid list.... Now, the family rule was if it wasn't broken or gushing blood, when mom was relaxing, we were not to bother her.
Wrestling in a tree house, fell out, broke my left leg. Bothered mom.
Riding my bike UP stairs, dislocated my right shoulder and elbow. Bothered mom (hey, I was 8, I couldn't tell it wasn't broken)
Cutting foam core with an xacto blade - left index finger got in the way. My sister and I debated for 20 minutes on if it was a bother mom issue - now, you have to realise, my finger is cut all the way thru from tip to about the base of my nail. It's just not gushing blood - so I think it can wait. My sister is going BUT IT COUNTS to which point my mom heard that and goes "What counts" I said I cut myself, but it's not gushing. I think I was 12 at the time. I still don't have feeling in that finger tip.
The twelve million issues from working at a vet clinic - tho the cat who locked his jaw on my thumb and pierced the joint capsule was pretty good. A Terv decided to try to take my neck apart. A Chow bit my calf AFTER I had visited him and was leaving. I refuse to count the small dog bites or near misses (if we are banning nasty dogs, Min Pins, Chihuahuas, Peskie Eskies and Pekes are high on my list) Tho the best remains that I slipped and reinjuried my right knee and was on crutches for 8 weeks - let's just say, if I screw up a knee, I do it well. I was back at work for all of 3 days, when despite being as careful as I can be, a 100 lb Lab blew into the right knee, and took all the work done out again. Woohoo, that was fun. 12 weeks this time.
I've not taken that knee out since.

I managed to break my nose playing ball tag. Now the funny thing is that I was in my 20's and playing ball tag with a few kids at daycare. I apparently was playing to win...LOL. The one boy was hiding under a jungle gym. I bent down to throw the ball at him, stood up real quick to run away and smacked my head into part of the jungle gym breaking my nose. It was quite embarrassing at that time, now I just laugh about it.

luckily, doesn't bug me enough to stop me from roughhousing and doing stupid things. hehe.

Yeay clumsy people!!!!
#1 - Flipped myself over while trying to jump rope when I was 4 and broke my wrist with my chin. I swear Mr. Rogers just wasn't teaching it right...
#2 - Slipped off a slip and slide and broke my wrist (or elbow?) when I was 5 or 6
#3 - Cousin was swinging me around in a circle by my arms when I was 5 or 6 and broke my elbow or wrist again (I always forget which broke when with those two)
#4 - Fell down the stairs and sprained both knees while I was in 4th grade - crutches for months
#5 - Tripped over a suitcase in our upstairs hallway and broke my wrist with my chin - again - when I was probably 9 or 10
#6 - Stepped off a curb while heading for the school bus when I was 14 and broke a bone on the side of my foot
#7 - Cracked a rib while coughing while I had bronchitis when I was 17
#8 - Fell off of a loading dock backwards hitting the ground with the dead center of my spine (I arched my back to reach forward to try and grab something, but there was nothing to grab) after my hand slipped off of the door handle of the truck I was trying to get into. Didn't break anything, but I couldn't quite walk right for a little bit. Oh, and I was 22 and working at my zoo at the time.
#9 - Evil barred owl taloned me in the side of the head, while I was trying to leave her food at the end of the day and wasn't watching her. She was always clicking and warning people, but she was all talk no action. Until she decided to go after me. Evil evil girl. But I should have been watching her.
Eh..there are many many more, but I'm done writing them all out.
I just have to say 2 things: I'm amazed my mom wasn't investigated for child abuse when I was little and boy did workers comp hate me while I was working at the zoo!

Wow... I am going to be 35 in October and have never broken anything OR had stitches (did I just jinx myself?)
However, I do do random silly things.
- I tried to go up the stairs with my sisters crutches (I think I was fifteen or sixteen), started to fall forward (into the stairs, not down them) and for whatever reason decided to catch myself with my nose instead of my hands. I didn't break it, neither did it bleed, but it hurt alot for a few days.
- Was playing with my ex-boyfriends mothers mean cat while at their house in PA for Christmas (I was 20ish) and didn't notice that my puppy was coming up behind me. Mean cat (Zach?) bit me in my thumb web and the next morning my hand looked like Mickey Mouse. Ex's Mom was a nurse and didn't seem to think my reaction to the bite was abnormal at all. Ex took me home that day so I could get antibiotics from work.
- Decided to play super-tech/assistant (I was actually a receptionist) and hold a tempermental cat without gloves (I can't even remember at this point what we were doing to it). It kicked me and dug it's claw deep in-between my pointer and flipper knuckles. I remember feeling crunchy feelings in the pointer knuckle for a while after that.
I'm sure there are more, but those are the most memorable. Also I'm at work now and should probably work.. hehe
