Love a Rat

« on: May 05, 2008, 12:01:11 AM »

These are our latest fosters from the Nevada Humane Society. We picked these four up on Saturday right after they came in. Originally we came in to talk to the volunteer coordinator, as we received an email about kitten fostering (all volunteers receive this email). We just decided to go in and see if they needed us to foster. Initially, when we first came in, they had found all kittens foster homes. So we decided to look around. Turns out my mom really wants a cat (I have three, she doesn't own any). So we browsed all the cats. Unfortunately my cats hate other cats, so we were looking for young cats/kittens. Well while looking around the volunteer coordinator found us and told us they just got two litters of kittens in for fostering. Turns out these kittens came from a feral mom, but there were two seperate litters being cared for by one mom. The older kittens were six weeks, the younger four weeks. My mom decided we would foster the four week babies. They're all so adorable and funny.

I've sexed them all and it looks like there are two females and two males. There are two black kittens, one tuxedo, and one gray kitten. The black boy kitten is named Buzz, the black female is named Jazzy, the tuxedo is named Tux, and the gray (potential keeper) is named Tink.

Their little personalities are starting to show. Buzz is the more reserved of the bunch, he is also the smallest kitten. Jazzy is a playful kitten, and is also the one who eats the most. Lol. Tink is cuddly. And Tux is the one who loves to get into trouble.

 Shocked 2 So cute!

Actually my first thoughts were, "I'm getting a real Children of the Corn vibe from that first picture." Just look at how they're all staring!

My second thought was, "Kawaiiiii!!!1!one!!"

I've got more pictures. Smiley
And news. Lol.
Another little boy was added to the foster mix. He came from the same place with the feral cat problem (hopefully this'll get fixed). He isn't from the same litter though. He is about a week older, and has some very gorgeous coloring/markings. His name is Elmer, the shelter named him. And I guess from Saturday the NVHS has received 5 more litters of kittens that need fostering.  Shocked

Oh and lil' miss Tink is staying with us. Smiley

I don't blame you for keeping her - who can resist the itty blue ones?  Gosh knows I can't...  Smiley

Love the new itty guy too!  I wish I could have another cat.  Sad

My husband thinks we need to bring home a kitty to "teach the other cats a lesson".  Yah, he can't resist the itty blue eyes, either... Wink

They're very cute.

They're all gorgeous and cute!!

I haven't had a kitty that young since about 1991 maybe?  I started off with itty bitty ones, but then later, all the others I ended up with have all been 4 months and older.

Aaaaww...cutie babies.  I think the babies are so cute...I'd be afraid to foster, I'd have a hard time letting them go.  How wonderful of you to take care of these kittens.

The original four, two blacks, one tux, and little gray went back to the HS to be adopted. We decided to keep Elmer, the little calico tabby guy. Smiley So he is still with us, didn't weigh enough to be neutered (the others weiged nearly 3 lbs, Elmer didn't even weigh 2).

Yepp. Smiley

He fits right in with the family. He's such a lover. Greets you at the door, and fits right in with our other three cats who he acts exactly like. The other cats are starting to tolerate him a lot better then they did before, no more growling and hissing as soon as they see him.
