Rough grooming or something else?
«

Early this afternoon I was playing with the kittens. I had all three on my lap and they were naping, sungling, and purring. However several times Mitzi grabed her brother Jag and roughly lgroomed his belly. He mewed and tried to get away. Suki also groomed his belly. Later Mitzi was at him again, he mewed ran off.
What's going on? Are the girls just being too rough? Why are they soo fixated on his belly?
pictures of Jag's belly:
Now that I think of it they were probably grooming a sticker or something out of his fur since they'd just been out in the yard right before.
Seems I'm just a paranoid pet owner.

I do tend to be paranoid about the kittens, but I caught the girls at it again today. Poor Jag.
I checked his belly and there
are
tiny stickers in his fur right against his belly. I couldn't get them out since he hates me to mess with his belly (which I have been alot lately).
My mom thinks the girls are trying to nurse from him. They were already eating solds before we got them, but two (don't remember which two) were still nursing from time to time.
Should we do something about this or just leave them alone and let Jag deal with his sisters his own way?
I don't want Jag to get hurt, I know he doesn't like it when they do that.
They'll be going to the vet tomorrow. I'll ask them to look at Jag's belly.

The vet comfirmed that the kittens are six weeks old. All in all everyone is pretty healthy. They do have ear mites though. So we got meds for that.
The vet did look at Jag's belly, but didn't seem to be bothered by it. She said that unlike a puppy Jag wouldn't get hurt from his sisters weirdness. Still I'd like the girls to stop doing it. Any ideas?

You said he had stickers in his fur? It may be the girls are trying to get them out, and it pulls, and he's a wimp.
I also think that if it really bothers him, he'll put a stop to it pretty quickly. I'm not sure what you could do to discourage the girls that wouldn't also freak out Jag (i.e. spraying with water, "psst" noises, etc.).

Thanks, I kinda figured that was probably it. Jag's holding his own against them more now, so I don't think I'll need to worry about him so much as them(being curious kitties).
