Getting rid of fleas.

I just took in two kittens. One is about 3 months old, and the other is somewhere around 3-4. What is the best way to rid 3-4 month old kittens of fleas? Are they old enough to bathe? Or flea medication or flea shampoo? Any help would be great!

At 3-4 months, it should be safe to use the Kitten size Advantage or Frontline on them, and that's also the safest bet. Don't use anything you can buy over the counter (especially if it says Hartz anywhere on it). It'll cost a little more to get that actual Advantage or Frontline, but it's much much safer!

Wait..I thought the kittens you took in were 3-4 weeks? That's a big difference from 3-4 months. Or are these kittens different from the ones that you mentioned in the other thread and were going to be bottle feed? If they're the same, I'm actually not sure if kitten frontline or advantage would be okay for that young a kitten as I've never tried it.
Anyone else have any input?

I'm pretty sure that kittens under eight weeks of age can't use Frontline or Advantage.

you can wash the kittens in original dawn dish soap, it'll kill the fleas but not the eggs. Good luck!!

Dawn works great for killing fleas. If you've got kittens under 8 weeks, Dawn and a flea comb are your friends. If you have carpets, table salt does wonders for drying up fleas and flea eggs that are hanging around. Otherwise, you're likely to grow back your problem in a couple of months.

There is a revolution that you can use on kittens up to 5 pounds. It's only $30 and A LOT cheaper then frontline.
Also I got Frontline from Petco and it cost about $60 and it didn't even work.

I'm pretty sure that if you bought it at PetCo, it wasn't real Frontline. You can only get real Frontline from the vet.

Here are my suggestions:
1. Wash all bedding thoroughly.
2. Vacuum carpeting daily and dispose of used vacuum bags.
3. Steam-clean carpeting.
4. Use a whole-house insect bomb which specifically targets fleas.
