Since there seems to be a fair amount of interest in this swap, I'm going to get it started!


About the Swap:
This swap (aka GIFT EXCHANGE) is ratty themed!  The focus of the gifts will be on the rats, although if you have an AMAZING idea for a gift for your partner, then go for it!  Mainly, just have fun with it! :)  Items can be boughten or crafted, whichever you are more comfortable with.  There will be a price limit for those buying, but it hasn't been decided what it will be...Any ideas  on it?

Timeframe:
Sign-Ups: Wed. June 4th - Sun. June 8th
Receive Partner: June 9th
Send-Outs: ON OR BEFORE July 1th!  That gives everyone 3 weeks to get things sent out...If this timeframe is too short for anyone let me know! :)

RULES:
1. DO NOT SIGN UP if you don't intend to send out a package.  Receiving a package, then running off without sending one out is a CAPITOL OFFENSE, and is not very nice!  How would you feel if someone flaked out, and you didn't get any package?
2. DO SIGN UP if you are SURE you can participate.  DO NOT SIGN UP if you think you might not be able too.  By sending in your application, you're agreeing to participate in the swap, and I will expect you to participate.
3. DO LET ME (Tabitha) KNOW when you send out your package, and DO LET ME KNOW when you receive your package.  If you want to be extra careful, tracking numbers would be great, but are not required.  This way I can monitor who's sent to who, and who's received so far.
4. DO PUT THOUGHT INTO YOUR ITEMS.  Be proud of what your sending out!  Take pride in what you make/do, and let it show in your swap package!
5. DO HAVE FUN! This is a swap to send out and receive gifts for your furbabies!  Have fun with it!
6. DO NOT LIMIT YOURSELF.  Although the main focus of this swap is for the rats, you can craft something for your partner if you want too!  Have fun with it!
7. If you are buying items for your swap, please limit it to around $15-$20 USD.  That way everyone gets about the same! :)

On a couple of other forums I frequent there are always swaps going on...I thought it would be fun to have a Ratty-themed swap, if there was interest!  I'd be willing to organize it, and get everything started if enough members showed interest!  I think it would be really fun to do, and I'd love to see what other users came up with to trade! :)  It could be homemade items, or boughten if people wanted to go that way, but I'd try to match people up based on which they preferred.  We could swap things like igloos, hammocks, treats, toys, drawings...Rat owners are some of the craftiest people I've ever met, so I'm sure everyone else has better ideas than I do!  :yelcutelaugh:

I think it would be fun.. but Id end up having to purchase something to swap.. because Im not very crafty anymore lol.. unless someone wants my poorly made tshirt hammocks LOL

I'd be interested in a gift exchange.  I missed this last one.  I like the idea that its rattie themed.  I just got some new summer prints that would be fantastic hammocks in any cage!

You make or buy stuff for the theme, in this case, rats, and send it to someone! It's usually either pairs (a-b and c-d) or a circle (a sends to b, b sends to c, etc).

Sounds neat,but I don't know how much it would cost to send packages halfway across the world to you guys..lol!  :confused:

There should be...What does everyone think is a fair price limit?  I'm thinking between $15-20 USD...What's everyone elses' opinions on it?

Just a thought - would it be a good idea to include cage type and/or approx. size in your questionnaire?  Some of the hammocks that I've sewn will fit in my Rat Manor, but not in my temp. cage. 

 

I think the cage idea is great.  Sometimes its hard to find what cage a person has through searching.

I'd prefer it NOT be a secret exchange.  We always do secret exchanges on here so I think it'd be nice to know who's sending you something.  Just something different.

As of right now, no.  The only people involved in the swap are from the US...There are a bunch of people in the swap willing to ship to Canada, so if you wanted to participate you could, and if anyone else from Canada signed up I would pair you up with them :)

Eeeee!!! Tabitha!! Everything is so adorable! I've been wanting to get a cube for my rats for some time now! The treats have been approved by my bunch as well! The picture frame is too cute!!

Oh, I'm sooo glad you liked it!!!  I wasn't sure if you'd like the picture frame, because it was brighter colors, and you said you liked dark...But I figured all cool colors in the package would work nicely :) 

I didn't know if the triangly-pouchey-hammock thing was big enough for your girls...I made one for my girls too, and they HATED it hanging, but LOVED it when I pulled out a few seams and it was just a snuggly blanket instead.  So maybe if your girls don't like it, you could do it up that way instead :)

Yay! Im so glad you like them! I tried to do something semi-boyish but still purple. Purple is the most amazing color; my fav. too. I hope they like them. I would LOVE to see pics of your ratties enjoying them... especially since my boys are.. odd.. and don't like any hammocks at all ( ::) ).

ETA: Sorry about the lack off complete hooks. I had bought two boxes and misplaced one.. I decided to send it off rather than trying to find them and keeping the package forever.

My package has been sent as of today!  :)  Hopefully Canada Post isn't delayed too bad with Canada Day being tomorrow.  I also apologize for the fact that I'm about as creative as a pickle.  :P

Due to life totally sucking - the package will get off today (crossing fingers that I get to the store in time).  My delay claim is we've been trying to get my mom up to Mayos for surgery to remove her liver tumor - so it's a sucky excuse to be behind, but I am.

The tied hammock looks  REALLY  bad, but for some reason, my girls LOVE it because it kind of "cups" them more.

Okay, so my package didn't go out today - someone took my postal scale! I am not kidding. I am going nuts. I suspect the only other person in the house but he swears his innocence. Next I am questioning the cat.
(I usually use Paypal and weigh at home and I couldn't, and it's hard for me to get out to go to the PO to mail things. I have fibro and some days just thinking about driving makes me nuts. I should have just mailed them the day I finished. I am sorry.)

This means I have to trek over to the PO to mail it. So sorry :( It will go out either tomorrow or Wednesday. I suck, I know. I am going to find that stupid scale.

I sent out wickedrodent's package today.  Sorry I couldn't get it earlier, I ended up just not having time to complete it all before I left home for two weeks.  I finished it here, but couldn't do as much as I had hoped.  However, I think you will like it.  Its priority, so it will ship quickly.

I got my gift yesterday!!  Just didn't get a chance to post.
Its fantastic and I will take some pictures tonight.  I asked for cool treats and fun toys and got such great stuff!   :party:  We got fruit flavored yogies and these little tiny dog biscuits with icing on top! (Both of which had to go right in the fridge because they'd been melting in my mailbox as the mailperson didn't bring it to the door.   :doh:
And I got a little wooden hanging bird toy with a bell on the end that they will just love.  And also some ferret ball toys that have a bell inside that makes a really neat sound.   And my favorite..... something I've been coveting and searching for.... a waffle house!!   :wav:  I was so excited and put it together right away.  As soon as hubby came home and got all excited again showing it to him... though he wasn't much impressed.   ::)  I think its just the coolest thing ever and can't wait to put it in the cage for them to explore.  Very awesome gifts!!  THANK YOU!

Seeing all of these awesome packages makes me realize how much I suck at being creative.  :(

Yes, Yes I did!  OMG, they are all awesome!  I've always sewn with fleece, as it is extremely cold here in winter (-40 below outside, not much more than 60-67 inside at times, often as low as fifty).  Now that is it summer, and usually in the dry 70s inside and out, I am sure some thinner hammocks will be greatly appreciated.

They were waiting for me when I made it home tonight.  I have to clean the cage tonight or early tomorrow, and will have to use every one (there are quite a few)!  I'll take pictures and post them.  Hopefully some of my matching liners are clean (I've been gone nearly two weeks).

I just HAD to update this. I woke up this morning to find Jasper slepping in the pocket hammock!  :shocked2: :hyper: :thumbsup2:

Awesome!  I used the pocket hammocks to start converting my girls to hammocks.  I occasionally will find them in other hammocks, but mainly they still hang out in the pockets.  I'm glad they enjoy it (and the cuddle cup, those take forever to make, omg).

I find that the corner hammocks help towards getting them used to hammocks, too.  For the most part, my ratties don't sleep in the corner hammocks, they're more for extra running space or to perch on and eat.

I hope not too, but I wouldn't fret yet.  Canada Post sucks, big time.  It's taken packages I've sent in other exchanges more than 2 weeks to arrive.  :(  We also had Canada Day fall on the 1st, so it would have been delayed a day.

I got mine yesterday morning!  Eeeeeeeeeee the hammocks are gorgeous and my girls love them!  Thank you, thank you, thank you furmama!!!

Pumpkinseed, I haven't heard back yet from Shadow either...don't worry though, I PROMISE you will get a package <3  As for Birdsong, I know she SENT out a gift, but I'm not positive if she recieved your gift or not.  I'll try messaging her and Shadow again :)

And Strangeduck, I know rattietayls sent out your package sometime near the end of last week...I can't remember the exact date, but keep an eye out for it soon!  ;D

Sent mine to Punkinseed yesterday...Checked and the site said it had left Springfield, MA last night, so should arrive by Sat. Apologies for lateness...been dealing with a lot of recent losses and things kinda slip by. (We've lost many of our mischief since May 1st)

No package from Tankgirl, yet ( haven't checked today's incoming, since I had to come to work early) but I'm not worried.

Tabitha they said it would get there this Saturday, BTW.

I LOVED the pink fabric that you choose for the hammocs! It was gorgeous!

Rattietayls it came today!!!!  I got home very late tonight, so I haven't been able to give them their treats yet, but I will and I will take pictures!!  What did you use to decorate the igloo?  It's very cute, but I'm afraid my ratties who are notorious for destroying everything I give them will eat it, and I just want to make sure it would be okay.

Strangeduck: Yay!!!! I sent a package to San Fransisco the same day, and that arrived on Saturday, so I had no clue when it was going to get there, especially since you don't live in San Fransisco(they told me yesterday, but they are dumb at our post office :yelcutelaugh: .  I used mod podge, which is non-toxic, so it shouldn't hurt them  ;D 

KoalaLou2: I will take pictures, but I have to wait till I get the camera back, I don't know when that'll be, but sometimes soon  ;D

Your not being a whiner at all!  Your package should have already arrived...She messaged me a week or so ago, saying she did receive a package, and that she had mailed out her package (Sent on the 2nd)...If it still isn't there, then I'd start to get worried that it got addressed wrong, or returned to her...Have you tried emailing her?  That would be my next step...

Just a note, anyone who does not send out their package will be BANNED from ALL FUTURE SWAPS on Goosemoose!!!  This is taken very seriously on this forum.  Its just plain not right.

Tabitha, do you have a list of persons who volunteered as backup pals?  I would be willing to send out a gift package to someone who has not received theirs.  Its been over a month now.

Anyone who has not received their package please post ASAP so we can get this worked out.

Its definitely understandable to be upset.  Over a month late and without any explanation is just plain rude.  It looks like she was online yesterday.
Tabitha, if you have an email address for her, I would suggest sending a note directly to her.  We certainly don't want to have to ban people from future exchanges.  Its meant to be fun and exciting... not stressful and aggrevating.

I think sometimes people might think it's better to just ignore someone who is upset but I know I'd rather just get a late package of even just a Joann's card for fleece, than to get no reply at all. People forget or get busy so it's okay, but I know Smilllee and I would rather just have a late swap than no swap ;)

I'm not too worried, either. I know my pal received hers and was thrilled with it. :)

Firstly, I want to apologize for everyone for not being on lately..My family and I went camping, so I haven't had access to internet  :(

Now, onto the swap...I'm not sure I have a list of people who volunteered to be backups.  There was a list a page or so back, of the last updates of who I KNOW received gifts, and who did not, so I'll go check for that as soon as I finish posting this.  I've still got everyone's info on my external, so I'll get all that later.  Koala, if you want to help me try to get this all sorted out, I would appreciate it :)  PM me, and we'll fix this!

Some people are so rude... The fact that someone else has to take care of a package that hasn't been sent out irks me. it's understandable If something was going on to where she couldn't send a package, but she should have let smillee know... It shouldn't have been left up to anyone to clean up behind her.

Just an update for everyone, still no word back from the people who havent sent gifts. :(  I still cant believe that such an active member of the forum would sign up for a swap and flake out on a gift.  >:(

Ugh...I'm so sorry for those that didn't get their gifts.  I'm totally willing to be a back up pal..I think my pal was pleased with her gift.

I was pleased with my gift (and I promise there will be photos, the camera broke, then life got busy, and now I'm moving...).

I would also volunteer as a backup buddy if they don't mind waiting at least two more weeks (so I can move in).
