Do you have other pets?  Dogs and cats are obligate carnivores as well.  That dry stuff you feed them started out as an animal in one form or another, so I really don't see the differene.  I have a ball python that I love, and I feed prekilled prey.  I buy it frozen and thaw it myself prior to feeding.  And yes, given that I love my rats fiercely, it did squick me out quite a bit at first.  Now, however it's as commonplace a task as the pig's ears my dogs get as occasional snacks or their wet and dry food fed to them daily.

People who feed live prey for the thrill of it disgust me to no end, it's not an amusement.  Yes, a snake has to eat, that's a part of nature, however, placing a terrified rodent in an escape proof enclosure with a rodent killing machine is not.  Aside from the potential for harm to the snake, live feeding is cruel because being crushed to death isn't the least painful way to go...

^I totally agree!

I have a kingsnake along with my rodents and I just view the frozen rodents I get as food. Just as my cat's food was once fish, chickens, etc

Freshly cleaned and decorated cage for the holidays!

We have one wheel, 2 tubes, 1 envelope hammock, 1 giant burrow hammock, one plastic tub with fleece scraps, one holiday tin from the dollar store, blue fleece from Menards topped with a holiday placemat, and of course a festive food plate! Oh, and a stocking, 2 small fleece braids and fleece hat.

Gotta get on hubby to add onto that top shelf for more floor space tonight!!!

I agree that homemade gifts are great. So thoughtful Smiley I'm making my boyfriend coconut macaroons (he LOVES them but hardly ever gets to have them) and I'm making a macramé choker with a wooden peace sign pendant (he's a bit of a hippy lol). The one year I made him a mix CD (tacky, I know, but one of the things we have in common is our taste in music Smiley ) I really want to go OTT on the wrapping of the homemade gifts. I like pretty looking gifts Grin . I plan on getting him a few store-bought things, too. Maybe some PJs or something.

I think I'm going to steal the cookie-in-a-jar idea for my boyf's mother. That's so neat!

I know these girls have only been here a day, but I'd like for their time with me to be as limited as possible. Any fosters or adopters would be very much appreciated!  Beyond these girls' "plain" looks are some very friendly, outgoing, attention hungry kids that just want to explore and play.

I would probably just plug it into an extension cord myself. It's nearly impossible to find surge protectors with long cords.
