So,for the past few weeks, aside from our own dog,we're taking care of a over-energetic Husky that belongs to a friend, and she's a nice dog,but really nosy. Heh..'Nosy'..Get it? Ah,anyways, every now and then, when I play with them outside, both hyper,way-too-curious dogs,HAVE to find something to get into, maybe rummage through some foul-smelling garbage,or dig up a rabbit hole..And the past week, they've been scratching at trees, and getting sap stuck in their fur, sprinkling water on it,then trying to comb it out, doesn't always do it. Is there some easy way to slide it off their fur, without it being too painful?

You might try Dawn dishwashing soap. Gets a lot of stuff out, might work on sap.

Ok,thanks,I'll try it. Smiley Edit:I just did a google search, apparently just putting a bit of regular Peanut Butter on the sap,and then combing it out works quite well?  Huh

Peanut butter works pretty good. Just rub it in.

I'm sure both would work pretty well, but if mixed together, can you imagine the color and smell of it?  Cheeky

Or you could try chemical warfare and put some "Goo Gone" on it!  Yellow Cute Laugh

Don't use Goo Gone Smiley

However, there is a product, it's at Wal-mart, called "Goop".  It's in a white jar.  Slather it on, and use a bunch.  It gets anything sticky out of Scout, the idjit Collie mix - and at the clinic, more than a few times, we used it to get tar off dogs.

If Goop doesn't get it out, I've found - it's time for the clippers.
