Caramel and Truffle look to be mink maybe (hard to tell), where as Pepe and Honey are most definitely siamese.  Smiley

I THOUGH Pepe and Honey (and Taffy too, she's identical to Pepe with the shading an rexy fur) we're siamese. We're keeping Taffy, and I'm so stinking excited, because that'll make two siamese for us, Trixie, I thought was PEW, but she just recently developed the points Smiley

Truffle (and Rizzo and Reese who look just like them) i was pretty certian on the mink

But Caramel and her twin Ginger, are way differnt than Truffle, Rizzo and Reese. They look almost like a golden Agouti. That's what has me so confused help

To me caramel and Truffle look to be Mink. Caramel kinda looks agouti in the pic though, maybe she's a burmese agouti. I'm not too sure. Pepe and honey are siamese.

I'm not great with colors, but I thought I'd like to throw in my two cents...

Caramel looks to be mink, but it's so hard to tell because pictures can distort color quite a bit...  Undecided

no matter what she turns out to be, she's a real beauty... actually, they all are!  Yellow Cute Laugh

The problem with mink is that it comes in MANY different shades and variations.  Makes it hard to tell when they're babies  Tongue

Yea, I figured it would be a while, but I'm impatient LOL. The only 2 I got right away was Nutmeg the Agouti and Kahlua the black berk.

Thanks for the opinions though!!

I don't think Caramel is mink, but Truffle is.  Caramel looks like she's got ticking which makes her agouti based.  She looks like she could be blue agouti if I had to guess.  Looks like my cinnamon girl almost but with a blueish tinge rather than red.   Smiley

Also, looks a lot like this beautiful Russian cinnamon from the TEK website:

Hmm Truffle..Caramel...sounds like a box of candy to me Cheeky

Total thread killer about the candy, but they are pretty babies Smiley Smeeze are always so easy to spot. The others look like something mink based. Could be the flash from the camera as well.

I don't know genetics at all, nor am I a color expert buuuut from my limited experience I will say Smeezie, Mink and Cinnamon. I didn't think Caramel looked mink at all but I don't know all the different variations of colors so I could be WAY off.

The thing that really makes me think Caramel's not mink actually is the gray undertone on the legs.  I've never seen a mink with that before.  Mink tends to be a more solid, even coloring, while agouti based colors like cinnamon tend to look like a combination of several shades that get lighter or darker on various places on the rat.

Here is a picture of my cinnamon Fenn to show what I mean:

She's a very red cinnamon, but you can see that really pretty light gray showing through in her shoulder/leg area.  Her whole tummy fades to gray (she's got white berky markings over that, which are hard to see, but they're there).  You can also see that her hairs are made up of not one color hair but light hairs, dark hairs, and everything in between.

Here's another picture of my two cinnamon girlies together, both displaying that agouti fade-to-gray effect:

My mink girl Cinder, however, did *not* have that fade-to-gray.

Nice even coloring all the way down to her white stockings.

And my agouti girl, Chinchilla, did have it:

I always found that the easiest way to spot agouti based colors Smiley

Yea, I'm thinking Caramel(and Ginger and Rizzo), are Cinnamons! How cool! I was not expecting a litter full of selfs and berks whatsoever. Mom is a hooded Agouti, and there are 3 possible dads, A PEW, a Blue/Silver self and another hooded Agouti. I thought we'd end up with a few hoodeds, but nope, every single one is a berk, self and I have one irish mink girl as well.

Thank you everyone for the advice and the beautiful beautiful pictures!

Yes, cinnamons have ruby eyes, though the shade varies.  Fenn very clearly has ruby eyes - you can tell just by looking at her that they're lightish, and Dune does as well, but hers are a little darker to the point of being almost black.  I believe if you shine a flashlight on them at night they should reflect back red and that's how you tell if they're ruby or not.

Definitely looks like cinnamon agouti to me...and yes they have ruby eyes.

My rescue girl Sable was one...just remember she was an old faded and neglected lady when she arrived. Sad
