The secret pal exchange is just what it sounds like. Every person who signs up will receive a Secret Pal!
If you sign up, you are responsible for sending a card, or e-card, to your secret pal by a particular date with a hint about your identity. Don't be too obvious with your hint! (More than one card and/or e-card hint is okay.)

You will also be responsible for getting your secret pal a gift. This gift should be in the $15-$20 range (you can spend more if you wish). Handmade gifts are encouraged!
Getting your pal more than one gift is okay.

Even if your secret pal guesses your correct identity, you're not allowed to tell them that they are correct. You can say no, though, if they guessed wrong.

Thank you everyone for their PM/e-mails about sending things international. You're the best!  :-* However, I think there are five of you but only two internationals...where are our international people?!

I thought I'd have to give this one a miss since we're in the process of getting ready to think about buying a different farm, and if things work out... we'll be way up over our head rebuilding barns and moving goats when the exchange is needing to be sent.  I am following along and reading avidly though =) I've always had lots of fun in the exchanges I've been a part of and encourage anyone who's fence sitting to jump in and get involved!

I have never done an exchange before because the timing has never been right.  About what time will the gifts be sent out?  This is important because I do seasonal field work and may not have much online access in the summers.  Same goes for being near civilization.  I may have to drive a ways to get to a post office (not sure about this yet though).

There will be a date where everything has to be sent out by but of course you can send out earlier if you want to.  You'll have your pal from the beginning of the exchange (after sign up is over)

Eek, does your post people offer any flat rate boxes or anything? Or maybe you have something like UPS or FedEx? I wish I knew more about sending things from overseas. OR you can order something online where they are based in the US such as Dearpie's Hammocks, Wonderrodent, the rat rescuses that sell things etc.

I just sent a package for a quilt exchange for a homesteading forum I belong to to America the other day and it was one of those 4-6 business day delivery return receipt confirmation things.  It was $37 and something like 1 kg in weight or so... about what I expected.  So it's not what I would call cheap to send packages from Europe to America, but neither is it cripplingly expensive I guess.  The cheapie slow boat via China option was about half that price.

That being said, I'm not sure I'll be doing more quilt exchanges, I'd rather do goosemoose exchanges ^^

I called my post office and they told me if it's under 2kg, I can send it as a letter! I don't know why it doesn't say that on the website. Anyway, the price is 25 dollars :party: That's affordable, so I'm in! I will just be extremely worried if it will be delivered (I only received 7 cards for the Christmas card exchange and I don't know if all of mine were delivered :-\)

There is only two more weeks left to sign up if you have not already. With that said make note of the deadlines:

Basically it's both, depending on who you get, and such. For example, I am thinking about joining, but I don't have pet rats right now. I only have two cats, so for me getting rat stuff wouldn't be very fun. As a giver I've given rat stuff, and I've given stuff for the person, sometimes both at the same time! So it all depends on the person you get. :)

i'm going to have to withdraw from the exchange, my temp agency is having trouble finding a a placement for me ( the clients they were going to set me up with actually went out of business) i don't know how long it's going to take for me to get placed so it's only fair that i sit out this round in case i don't get placed in time :'(

I'll keep you in for now but if you don't get placement by the sign up deadline next week I'll take you off.

Hints can be of where you live, what your interests are, or anything that might give a hint to them as to who you are without being too obvious. Hints an be a list, a poem, a needle point (Annie B sent me one before).

I can't believe it's the middle of April. My favorite time of year, mostly because I turn 17 which I'm very excited about, but also the middle of April means that it's almost time to send out those packages. I'm still sure who my pal is. I don't know if I said this yet but you don't give a Renaissance nerd picture of where you live with Renaissance architecture in it :police:. I must admit, they are simply breath taking and are making me yearn ever more to visit Europe. In fact, I liked one of the pictures so much that it's my background on my computer, the one with the dragon statue. The one clue "the names of my ratties show that I'm a geek" this puzzles me. Heck, I named my rats from the Arthurian Legend! How geekier could you get? Ok ok, yeah my fish are named Henry (as in Henry VIII) and Fawkes (as in Guy Fawkes) :BlueDumboSmileTongue:.

I was on ebay and came across the set, I saw it and thought it was perfect and it was!

I have not shipped out my gift for my pal yet . the reason being the fact that my mom's incision has gotten infected  :confused: (she had a hysterectomy in march to get rid of her cancer,and her incision runs from hip to hip) so she is currently in springfield getting it checked out ,hopefully they will not have to admit her  :worry: .but like I told my pal ,I will ship her gift out as soon as
I finish getting stuff for her ,and we figure out how my mom is doing .
I feel awefull for not shipping it out in time but I am trying my hardest :D

I've sent my gift out a couple of days ago, registered, it should arrive next week :) But I had to put return address on it ::) And I guess I can't answer questions yet :P

I postmaster at my post office made me do that usually they don't care but I didn't put my name on it.

Mine went out today, priority mail, and is winging it's way North.

Apparently some of my forms to ship the package didn't get done right :(  I got it back last night, so I'm going to try again to send it.  Very sorry it's going out late!

i got my prezzie at ratcamp yesterday!  the girls got a dearpie sleeping bag and a dearpie pocket hammock in one of their favourite patterns!  i got the best owl beanie baby ever!  i love owls!!!  thanks pal...you rock!

Very lovely stuff! My camera needs batteries when I get some all post pictures.
I got two kinds of tea, one herbal and the other (I'll need have translating the box of the one tea all I can make out is "10 to 15 minutes"), a yixing pot (very tiny, it fits in the palm of my hand, cute elephant earrings which I'll wear tomorrow during my European History Exam for good luck, a framed Mona Lisa picture with Gawian in it, kitty tissues, elephant stickers, and a hair stick thingy. I have no idea where you are from *cough cough*.

YEAH!!!!!!!  I got mine :)  2 Dearpie hammocks, both in pirate fabrics.  The Smeezies LOVE them.  THEN, I got a bag of Scout's favorite ever snacks that are his junk food snackies and we never buy them for him, a bag of the cats favorite snacks - and how ever did you guess those two?  I didn't say what they loved - since I've got piggies who will eat anything :)  Plus, a really nice smelling lavender soy candle and two pairs of dragon earrings which I have in today!

The girls (and new boys) got some amazing hammocks, treat pillows, and chew toy (though the boys are going to be fighting the girls for them).  :P  I got a gorgeous, gorgeous boxer magnet and a ceramic bone sign that says "See it, throw it, chase it".  I love it all!  The hammocks are gorgeous, with one being a huge tube type, one being a little snuggly one (which Annie, the youngest, has claimed), and one being a huge pocket one that has quickly become a favorite.  Now, to decide who gets everything!  :P

YEAH!!!!!  The package FINALLY got there - I'm so glad!  It was being a brat to ship earlier obviously.  Sorry it's late, but glad everyone enjoys the goodies.  Psst, if they think they need more hammocks like those - they are the ones that Tonivan made and CCRR is selling to help out the rescue.  Mine love them also :)
