Title: Lugh's getting his dental Post by: Poppyseed on May 07, 2008, 07:56:00 AM Lugh is getting his teeth cleaned! It makes me nervous since he is 7. He's a spunky 7 though and still acts like 3. I let his teeth get really bad *head desk* so hopefully there aren't any or hardly any extractions :(
He's a good ferret and a tough kid. I had to take him in for his pre surgical blood work and heart worm test yesterday and they had to sedate him to do it lol. He wouldn't stop wiggling. He also took a long time for the sedation to take effect and woke up rather suddenly. He's such a tough cookie. I always get nervous when my kids are under anesthesia. Cross your fingers for him! Title: Re: Lugh's getting his dental Post by: Poppyseed on May 07, 2008, 07:10:13 PM He did well although he was a little slow to waking up ): But they said he was fine just really really tired. He's running around dooking right now so I don't think he's that bad off but I think he's just fighting falling asleep again.
He had two pre-molars removed as the root was exposed and the gum eroded. It's really weird because Gidgett who was the same age (RIP) had better teeth and Spazz has better teeth as well. He probably doesn't chew on things well enough. That and I'm horrible at brushing and he should have had a dental years ago. But those yucky teeth are out before they became infected. He had a three root molar that two of the roots were exposed but one was deep in there and healthy in appearance so he left it in hoping that the gums will grow up around it again with the plaque and gingivitis being removed and the use of antibiotics. If not we will just have to remove it next year ): Dr. Paul seemed to think the gums would grow back. The price wasn't that bad for a dental with bloodwork and extractions on an exotic which I am happy about. And his bloodwork apparently looked good since they went ahead and did the dental and didn't say anything about it being abnormal! I forgot to ask about it to be honest but I will ask later to make sure. |
