Title: lip piercing. Post by: itschelsea on June 20, 2008, 01:57:52 PM i've really wanted one for a while, and now i'm looking into it. but there are so many different ways to do it! what place would you recommend? like towards the side, towards the middle, what?
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: fluffy pluffy on June 20, 2008, 01:59:18 PM I say middle. :P
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: Fluffy1303 on June 20, 2008, 02:02:39 PM I would say off to the left side. An eyebrow piercing would be neat too...
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: pyrostorms on June 20, 2008, 03:24:53 PM i would say in the middle if you get one but if you get two you could get them on the sides, but that is just me. i cant just have once lip piercing on one side it with bother me so i would have to have one on the other side or you could always get your nose, eyebrow or septum pierced.
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: Tabitha on June 20, 2008, 03:53:54 PM I'm a piercing addict! Hah...I've had my monroe pierced a couple of times, and I absolutely ADORED it! It's techincally the same piercing as a lip piercing (AKA a Labret piercing) Just up top, where Maralyn Monroe had her beauty mark...I think it's a very pretty piercing. Sometimes it's called a Crawford piercing as well!
I was SOSOSO SAD when I had to take it out for my Childhood Education classes :( Good luck with your choice! I'd love to see pictures! :poke: Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: nevadamoon on June 20, 2008, 04:44:35 PM I've had several lip piercings (Still have one but may take it out soon.)
On the side of the mouth, it's not bad. I had a ring in mine, and it gets in the way a bit. It's weird getting used to, but it didn't really hurt and healed really easily. In the middle, I wouldn't recommend a ring. A labret is further down then a lip ring, but a lip ring will get in a lot of contact with your teeth. I used to have a labret, and it hurt even less the the side-lip, and never really got in the way. I took it out to get a vertical labret, which is basically a curved barbell through your lip. (So one ball is on top, and one on the bottom of your lip.) That one was a little unpleasant, but I like it. It gets in the way sometimes, but doesn't come in contact at all with my teeth as it's not technically inside the mouth. I still have it, but I'm getting sick of it getting caught on clothes all the time and I may take it out so I can find a job easier. :yelcutelaugh: I'd lean towards on the side the most, as it comes in the least amount of contact with your teeth that way. Even the labret can rub on the inside and end up messing with your gums (especially if your piercer isn't great.) and chipping a tooth on jewelry isn't fun. I've thought about taking all mine out but my nostril and getting a monroe, but I really don't want to repierce anything so I'm waiting until I'm sick of the ones I have. :yelcutelaugh: Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: star2 on June 20, 2008, 08:04:43 PM I love the lip piercings off to the side. It's all about personal preference.
Post a pic when you get it :) I wish I had gotten a lip piercing when I was younger- my mom would've disowned me but whatever ;) Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: Doom_and_Gloom on June 20, 2008, 09:58:36 PM I have a labret peircing and I love it ;D. I'm thinking about getting snake bites as well but I'd have to wear fangs in those to go with my labret one properly. It would look good but the £50+ that it costs is not possible for me right now. I love getting peirced but I only trust one person to do them all :yelcutelaugh:. The peircer is as important as the peircing that you want.
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: P3 on June 21, 2008, 01:05:59 AM I have a labret... right in the middle. I always keep a tiny little diamond in it and get a lot of compliments.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE having two studs off to one side of your lip, like two right next to each other but not snake bites. I think that's the best looking piercing. I wish I could get that done, but then I'd have a random hole and I'm way too OCD to only have one side done. Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: undergunfire on June 21, 2008, 02:30:34 AM I have snake bites, I suggest them ;D.
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: itschelsea on June 22, 2008, 11:38:37 AM i think i like snake bites the best :) i'll beg my mom for both, and she'll be like "no way!" and then i'll say FINE how about just one? and she'll say maybe.... and then i can just get the other one later, when she's used to it. haha wish me luck, i'll probably be begging all summer! ;D
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: Blayzn on June 22, 2008, 08:43:55 PM I have my labret pierced.
http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o51/Blayzn/Picture5.jpg I've had it going on 9 years now. Never got tired of it. I'd feel naked without it. Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: undergunfire on June 22, 2008, 09:33:48 PM I'd jump on it and get the snake bites all in one day. The pain is quick and they will heal together. Plus, if you are slightly OCD...like me....having one piercing on the side of your lip and not the other will drive you insane :yelcutelaugh:.
ETA: these are snake bites for those who are wondering what the heck they are :BlueDumboSmileTongue:.... Post by: Blayzn on June 22, 2008, 09:37:26 PM I also use to have the snake bites back in the day. One of them got infected and no matter what I did, it wouldn't go away, so I just took them both out.
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: Tabitha on June 22, 2008, 09:39:28 PM Mannn, this thread makes me want to get a new piercing!
I would LOVE to have my Monroe pierced again, or just a lip piercing in general...but I'm sure there aren't many people going into Childhood Special Education with facial piercings v.v Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: itschelsea on June 23, 2008, 08:18:50 PM tabitha :yelcutelaugh:
and undergunfire, i love yours ;D blayzn, yours is cute too ;D Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: jesirose on June 23, 2008, 09:00:47 PM Is there a certain side that you are supposed to do, like how guys are only supposed to get one side of their ears pierced?
I have always wanted my eyebrow myself. I have a navel one but I gained weight and took it out. Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: Blayzn on June 23, 2008, 09:31:54 PM No, there's no certain side for anything (including ears for guys, unless thee's only one). There's no unwritten rule or anything. Say you have an eyebrow pierced, I would get the opposite side of the lip done, just to even things out a bit. But other then that, it wouldn't matter at all.
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: Phalaeo on June 24, 2008, 01:28:41 PM No suggestions for placement, but check out www.tribalectic.com. I'm a moderator over there and there are lots of good piercing resources, including a piercer directory, forums, aftercare info and a chat.
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: AFIneohilim on June 30, 2008, 08:12:49 AM I've had my septum peirced for almost 2 years now... It's kinda a hassle to always get the bugars off it.. and it looks like i'm constantly picking my nose. and It was the most painful thing I have ever experienced... ouch.
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: fluffy pluffy on July 01, 2008, 09:32:54 AM Any update,Chelsea? :poke: :cheeky:
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: rowan138 on July 03, 2008, 12:37:54 AM I have a cool story, but a little off topic.I wanted to know if any of you other piercing collectors thought this was just too cool. :)
I had my nipple pierced for about 4 years. Then I had kids, and took it out so that I could breastfeed. So I breast fed for about 5 years.A few days ago, after about a year of not breastfeeding,I was really missing having piercings(I was actually thinking about getting my lip pierced)and I thought,"I wonder if my nipple is closed up yet".So I got out a piece of jewelry and just tried, figuring there was no way it would go in after 6 YEARS.It went right in!I was totally flabergasted. Now I'm super happy.I could never have gone through the pain of it again!Owie!Does anyone else think that it's crazy that it didn't grow over in that long?I did have it stretched up to a 6. Sorry for the major hijack,I just really found that bizarre, and wanted to share with someone who really likes piercings.Mu husband wasn't too amazed.Maybe it really is more common for that to happen,I don't know. And,my suggestion is: Center of your bottom lip,but not like a labret.Going straight through your lip vertically(not your skin)and you wear a barbell where you can see the ball in between your lips and right below. My ex had his like that, except he had one on each side of his mouth, like the snakebites are.Did that make any sense?Sorry,it's ,my husband is sittin late! Afineohilim,I used to have my septum done, and I agree with you!Worst. pain. ever. Undergunfire,my husband is sitting next to me,and he was really excited to see your picture! :cheeky:But,you really are beautiful! And,I love your piercings and that cool tattoo! Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: itschelsea on July 03, 2008, 02:50:31 PM rowan, i saw some people at the mall with that sortof piercing (lip, not nipple hahaa) and it did look really cute. right now my mom's all "no. just no. that looks ugly." but yknow.......... she said the same exact thing about rats ;D
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: pinkie1205 on July 03, 2008, 03:20:29 PM The one going vertically through the lip is a vertical labret. A lot of people are getting those because it has no contact with the teeth or gums.
I've had my labret done twice and my tongue, and really at this point I want to stay away from piercings that rub my teeth or gums. I guess my tongue wasn't too bad because it really didn't touch anything in my mouth except the roof and the fleshy part under the tongue. I took that out about 2 years ago because I felt like I was too old for it for some reason. Rowan you could probably get a piece of jewelery back into your nipple because it was stretched. Everyone is different and your's probably didn't close completely shut. Did you have to apply a lot of pressure to get it through? Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: P3 on July 03, 2008, 09:47:05 PM Along with what pinkie said...
I have a tongue ring, navel ring, and labret diamond stud. I'm 21, will be 22 in August. I've had the tongue since 15, navel since 17, and labret since 18. When will I be too old for the piercings? Not really trying to hijack, but Chelsea and I are in the same age range... just curious Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: pinkie1205 on July 03, 2008, 10:07:39 PM I don't think there is any age.
I took mine out because I decided that I didn't want it anymore. I had it for a couple of years and it wasn't a big deal for me to take it out. No one told me to take it out, it didn't affect my job in anyway, I just decided that I had it for a long time and it was time to move on. Piercings are a personal preference. IMO no one can tell you what to have and what not to have (unless you're under 18). Even if you have a job that says no piercings and you want one bad enough there is ways to still have the piercing and keep it hidden. Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: Scubbs on July 04, 2008, 01:01:08 AM I have snake bites, also - which I got done all at once :) Here's a recent picture which shows them - please excuse me hugging the camera. I've had them for 3 years or so now. I had studs for a while, and started off with the standard captive ball ring, but I like the horseshoe rings the best thus far.
(http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3028/2609887694_dca1775e31.jpg) I get an exceeding amount of people who ask me, "DO THOSE HURT? CAN YOU EAT WITH THOSE?" ::) I always explain that they're just like earrings, most of the time I forget I have them. Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: fluffy pluffy on July 04, 2008, 09:59:54 PM Wow Scubbs,I finally get to see a picture of you, muahaha. :P Cool piercings..I don't think I'm getting anything else,I've already got earrings. :P Chelsea, gotten any piercings yet? :)
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: reesesgma on July 05, 2008, 12:43:34 PM I love all my piercings, but the labret is the one I keep in because I love the look, however its a pain in my behind....or lip...lol...It is always in my way, I had a flat back in it but it gets irritated and caught on my teeth, so I have to keep a loop in it. I wish now, that I gotten it much lower, maybe then I wouldn't have problems. I love the look of the monroe. I have always wanted that, its so dainty and the little diamond in it looks adorable! I love piercings!
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: Ktina on July 05, 2008, 02:36:51 PM I thought about having my lip done, just one to the side but I'm not sure if I'd do it. I like the monroe ones, my mom wants one. I already have my tongue done so I figure getting my lip done would be a piece of cake. :P
Title: Re: lip piercing. Post by: pinkie1205 on July 06, 2008, 08:21:52 AM They do make fish tail labrets that won't get caught on your teeth. You'd have to get them bent by a piercer though. They usually come as straight bars.
