These are my faves also!! Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Violet7560 on June 21, 2008, 04:34:08 PM I second Beaches, strangeduck. That's a good movie. Other movies I've cried during..
Titanic Harriet The Spy (when I was 10 and cats were taken away, lol) Hmm.. I don't cry very much during movies and I can't think of any others. Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: OldsGal on June 21, 2008, 04:47:21 PM Every single movie I watch just about.....Including Disney/Pixar/animated movies.
My list would be way way way way way way too long to list. I am not joking when I say just about every single movie will make me cry. I am a bawler though. I cry at least once a week for no aparent reason. Staci Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Starbuck on June 21, 2008, 05:06:59 PM I don't cry too often watching movies.
But two I remember crying while watching, are Grave of the Fireflies, and Black Beauty. Black Beauty I have seen plenty of times, and yet at nearly 21, it still makes me cry. Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: baileyjane on June 21, 2008, 06:12:28 PM "When a Man Loves a Woman", when Andy Garcia has their little girls at the beach and REM's "Everybody Hurts" is playing...no matter how many times I've seen it; kills me every time! :'(

Now that I think of it there's too many to list. heh Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Nelly on June 22, 2008, 05:24:35 AM What Dreams May Come
The Butterfly Effect Bucket List Green Mile Pay it Forward Sixth Sense I'm sure there's more, I cry reading posts on the forums! I did cry at the Christmas Episode of the first series of Bones when they all get lockdown in the lab over Christmas. I cried at the episode of Roswell where Colin Hank's character gets killed, when they had his funeral. I cried at the most recent episode of Heroes we watched (won't spoiler it by saying what for anyone who hasn't watched it). Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: strangeduck on June 22, 2008, 10:41:27 AM Oh, Jeez...how could I forget?
We Are Marshall Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: KLS05 on June 22, 2008, 12:29:01 PM I am totally a sucker for tear jerkers!

I know a lot of people didn't like it---I thought the ending was extraordinarily powerful. The critical moment hit me like a ton of bricks. Mike Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: ratgirl2 on June 22, 2008, 05:11:21 PM I think the question should be "what movies DON'T I cry at? It may be shorter list...LOL.
However, a few of my favorites, Ladder 49 (sobbed like a baby in the movie theater) What Dreams May Come E.T. (I've seen it a gazillion times, and I still cry) A Walk to Remember (I cry every time I see it) Rein on Me with Adam Sandler Radio Forrest Gump Armageddon Titanic okay, I am going to stop now, because the list goes on and on...LOL Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Nelly on June 22, 2008, 05:34:32 PM OK ratgirl2 saying "sobbed...in the movie theatre" made me remember how I cried first time I watched Bridges of Madison County
Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Marybelle on June 22, 2008, 05:42:42 PM I cry at a lot of movies. Still cry over Bambi's mom and over Mufassah. Just watched Martian Child today, and that made me cry. The Incredible Journey always makes ma bawl, even though I've seen it a million times, and I know everyone makes it through okay. My hubby laughs at me because I cry over the cheesiest stuff. But I'm a sap, at heart. I get it from my Dad, I think. :)
Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: lotsorats on June 22, 2008, 08:00:14 PM The Bridges of Madison County gets me every time. I love that movie. Several years ago I went on a road trip to see the actual bridges that were in the movie in Iowa. I cried standing on the bridge:)
I also cry at the end of Homeward Bound when the dogs make it home. I also admit to crying everytime a Pedigree dog food commercial for the shelter dogs come on. My husband and I watch tv with his finger on the button to change the channel at the first sound of the commercial. Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Eileen on June 22, 2008, 08:51:23 PM King Kong (the newest one). The movie was stupid, but good God did they make King Kong beautiful. When they shot him off the Empire State Plaza, my heart just broke. They tore him out of the jungle to exploit him, and then killed him.
Gorillas in the Mist, when Sigourney Weaver/Diane Fossey broke down, saying "they cut off his head, they cut off his head".. (Digit, her favorite gorilla). I know she was crazy, but I could still understand her pain. Hmm..see a theme here? I don't really cry for people movies, but the scene in Hope Floats where the little girl is screaming for her crap dad (Michael Pare) to take her with him, was pretty moving. When I was a little girl(~5yrs old), I used to BEG my mother to let me watch "Born Free" when it was on. She was always hesitant because I would absolutely lose it at the end, be sobbing hysterically. I always promised her I wouldn't cry, but every time I would be inconsolable. And now, as a grown up, I let wild animals be free, for a living. Hee Hee. Except now, it makes me happy ;D Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: strangeduck on June 22, 2008, 09:43:04 PM Gorillas in the Mist, when Sigourney Weaver/Diane Fossey broke down, saying "they cut off his head, they cut off his head".. (Digit, her favorite gorilla). I know she was crazy, but I could still understand her pain. Crazy she may well have been, but she's also one of my personal heroes. If not for her then who knows whether there would be any gorillas left in the Congo. I still cannot even watch a documentary that mentions her and her work without bawling, and that special a few months ago on Animal Planet about all the great apes? Totally destroyed me. Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: pinkie1205 on June 23, 2008, 12:59:17 AM My mom said that Land Before Time made me cry like nothing else.
The NoteBook was weird because I held it in until I was driving home. At that time i was going through a pretty tough time. I just watched Be Kind Rewind today and that made me want to pinch a tear. King Kong (the new one) made me bawl like a baby and I have to admit that the ending was great. A lot of movies make me sad but really I don't cry. Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Jolie on June 23, 2008, 12:28:20 PM Bridge to Terabithia did me in last night. Also Family Stone always makes me cry. Trainspotting made me cry so badly I had to leave the theatre. Same with Schindler's list.
Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: jeannerat on June 23, 2008, 12:53:28 PM Superman Returns. When Supes is dying/in the hospital, I was in tears.
Camille, with Greta Garbo. Cried my eyes out practically through the entire movie. Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: hairless_love on June 23, 2008, 02:30:52 PM Ever since I stopped taking my anti-depressants...pretty much every movie makes me want to cry at some point in it. It's like I have a really hard time telling myself "it's just a movie" now. Some MAJOR tear jerker movies that I can think of are....
Eight Below ((I dunno what was wrong with me lol. I saw it in the theater and this was when I was still taking anti-depressants...I may have forgotten that day though. SPOILERS:::I started crying when the dog saved the guy from falling in the ice...cried more when they had to leave the dogs....cried more watching them trying to survive....cried more when they came back for the dogs.....::::END SPOILERS ya...Cried thru the whole thing.)) Brother Bear ((This is another movie that I saw when I was still on my meds, but it ALWAYS makes me cry, medicated or not. :::SPOILERS I usually only cry when Kenai tells Koda about killing the bear, and at the end when Koda is with his mom. No...I don't cry when Sitka dies. :::END SPOILERS Animals dying makes me cry more often than people dying for some reason...ya...I have issues. lol Reign on Me ((SPOLIERS:::No matter how many times I see it...I always BAWL when he talk about what happened to his family.:::END SPOILERS)) I am Legend ((Ok...I absolutely HATED this movie. I think this was the first movie I saw in theaters after stopping my meds. I litterally cried thru the WHOLE THING. :::SPOILERS Two things that I am REALLY afraid of are: being alone and zombies. And we already discussed my issue with animals dying in movies:::END SPOLIERS I just could not enjoy this movie at all because the whole thing was depressing and terrifying. I will never ever EVER watch this movie again.)) EDITED BECAUSE I FORGOT TO ADD: Quote I also cry at the end of Homeward Bound when the dogs make it home. I also admit to crying everytime a Pedigree dog food commercial for the shelter dogs come on. My husband and I watch tv with his finger on the button to change the channel at the first sound of the commercial. I cry every time the new ASPCA commercial comes on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EYocy_DN60I also always cry when I watch the music video for Free Me by Goldfinger http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=4083640193010032444&hl=en Oh....AND Meet Your Meet and Earthlings of course. EVERYONE should watch Earthlings though. Changed my life. http://veg-tv.info/Earthlings OK...I think I'm done now. :P Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Marybelle on June 23, 2008, 03:26:10 PM Yeah, that ASPCA commercial always makes me cry, too. My hubby thinks that's incredibly silly, too...
Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: diabolique on June 23, 2008, 04:37:39 PM -Steel Magnolias (I've seen it 6438761687 times, it still makes me SOB)
- Juno (certain scenes with Jennifer Garner, how badly she wanted a baby, I don't know, it made me think about my son a lot) - Titanic -Bambi -Beaches -Lion King (the opening scene, all the animals in harmony, something about it KILLS me...and of course, Mufasa's death) Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: strangeduck on June 23, 2008, 05:11:32 PM How could I forget Steel Magnolias?
Also: Stepmom Shut Up & Sing (There's one part where a mom is teaching her toddler to say hateful things and I just think...Really? Teaching a kid to hate?) Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Eileen on June 23, 2008, 05:28:09 PM Oh,, I'll agree with Stepmom. That always chokes me up as well.
Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: P3 on June 23, 2008, 05:35:27 PM There was one commercial that made me cry for 20 minutes everytime I saw it on tv.
I think it was for a running shoe? Anyway, there's a runner running on the sidewalk and a guy is following him with a boombox. They show the runner in a few different areas but the guy keeps holding up the music for him. I guess the runner gets sick of it, but he pushes the guy over and he has a pretty bad wipe out. You see the guy just sitting there with his head hanging and looking defeated. The runner comes back into frame and offers his hand and helps the guy up. He asks "Sorry man, you ok?". The boombox holder just nods, picks up his boombox, and follows the runner again. I BAWLED Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: JohannSebastianRat on June 23, 2008, 05:48:11 PM I am often touched by a commercial, but annoyed at the same time because I know they are trying to manipulate my emotions. I am more likely to enjoy a good sad movie when it feels like the writer, director, and actors are all trying to express their real feelings.
Mike Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: hairless_love on June 23, 2008, 06:23:55 PM OH! I thought of another one that nobody has listed yet: Pay it Forward
Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Ratwings on June 23, 2008, 07:35:21 PM I cry so easily from movies. Just about all the ones people have mentioned... if I've seen it I have bawled like a baby.
The thing that got the strongest emotional response was from a tv show though. The episode of M*A*S*H when Colonel Blake is killed made me cry so hard I thought I was going to lose my mind. :'( Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: blowingkisses on June 23, 2008, 09:28:30 PM I don't cry much, but Black Beauty STILL makes me cry, and Dream with the Fishes has had me sobbing like a child.
Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: fluffy pluffy on June 23, 2008, 09:39:55 PM Yeah, that ASPCA commercial always makes me cry, too. My hubby thinks that's incredibly silly, too... Yeah, why does that freakin' commercial have to be so sad? :puppy_dog_eyes: <- I always look like that, when I see the sad cats and dogs.. :puppy_dog_eyes: It's one of those sad things, where you so badly need to leave the room,or look away, but can't because it's so darn sad. :P Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Marybelle on June 23, 2008, 09:45:36 PM OH yeah, Pay It Forward killed me. I cried SOOO hard. But such a great movie.
Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: pinkie1205 on June 23, 2008, 11:31:23 PM Okay I cried the entire way through Earthlings and I don't think I'll ever be able to watch it again or even think about watching it.
**spoiler** At the very beginning when they're talking about pets and the stray dog is running around and they take it and throw it into the trash truck that is crushing garbage is horrendous. That image is so burnt into my head it is something I'll never forget it. The worse part is the look on the dogs face like HEY we're playing a game! Ugh I can't stand people. Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: strangeduck on June 24, 2008, 02:13:15 AM Yeah, that ASPCA commercial always makes me cry, too. :P I have a theory about that commercial. It's not intended for us, the ones who cry over the rats we couldn't save or the dogs and cats put to sleep because owners wanted a "cute" puppy or kitten or got "too busy" for their grown up dog whose ears perk up every time they hear someone walking towards their kennel, thinking that maybe, maybe this time it's the owner that finally missed them too much and has realized their mistake. Those of us already donate to animal shelters and adopt from animal shelters. That commercial is intended for the idiots who leave their senior dogs behind, their older cats...the ones who don't understand the responsibility we bear our animal companions when we allow them to be brought into the world. Eh...great...now I've made myself cry and I didn't even see the damn commercial... Title: Re: Films that make you cry? Post by: Nelly on June 24, 2008, 01:09:00 PM OH! I thought of another one that nobody has listed yet: Pay it Forward I did, back on page 1 ;) What Dreams May Come The Butterfly Effect Bucket List Green Mile Pay it Forward Sixth Sense hairless_love I remember that when I was seriously depressed and on meds when my 1st marriage was breaking up and things were really bad, I raved about films I watched then, how great they were, how sad they were. When I watched them again when things were better I saw them totally differently and couldn't understand or remember what was so great about them. |
