Title: Are you dressing up for Halloween?
Post by: NutKitty on October 09, 2008, 08:29:35 AM
I'm invited to a Halloween party, and I have NO clue what to dress up as!  Honestly, I'm not really feeling it this year, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

What are you guys dressing up as?  Maybe I can glean a few ideas or inspiration.   :cheeky:

Well, it looks like we're not allowed to dress up on the weekends in October at work this year, so my stuff is likely staying in the closet.

I have a few...

- Hogwarts robes (complete with Jo-Ann nametag that says "Hermione")
- My Ren Fair garb
- My "Tacky Tourist" getup which I wore on the cruise last year for the embarkation contest (Hawaiian shirt, plaid shorts, lime green faux Crocs, brown socks, puka shell necklace, flowered leis, white sunglasses, and a butt-ugly hat)

Hm..

I will be at a Ren Faire, so ...yes.  Probably pirate , because it's easier to work in.

I do have my pirate costume from last year, but I froze my ass off...  I don't really want to do that again.
http://www.nutkitty.com/dawnpirate1.jpg

I dressed up as Madonna from her Like a Virgin video recently, but the same people from that 80's party are going to be at the Halloween party.   :P

I have some black dresses, so maybe I'll go with a generic witch or vampire theme.  Hm hm...

Because they have systematically drained all the fun and creative inspiration since the new CEO took over? Did I say that?!  :-X

Yup.

We're going to the Ren-Fest on Saturday and I'll be wearing the costume that I got there.. I'll be wearing it to work, also, if we are allowed again this year.

Then, on Halloween, I'll be wearing my "protester" costume that I am making! :)

I did think of dressing up as Palin, since I've been told I look like Tina Fey when I'm wearing my glasses.  Throw on a few wolf pelts, carry a rifle...  get Dave to dress as McCain and shuffle about behind me?

Nah.  We'd probably get murdered here in SC if we did that.

Omg, that'd be hilarious.

I had been thinking of dressing up as the dead-Hannah Montana due to the CRAZY amounts of Hannah Montana costumes that have been driving me nuts. I was talked out of that one..

Ohhhhh do it!

Back in high school, my best friend and I went as "Undead NKOTB Fans." We were actually HUGE fans, so we dressed up in our concert gear and painted our faces. It was so much fun... LOL!

We were going to go as the Yip-Yip aliens from Sesame Street, but we're probably not doing anything this year. It may be the first time ever I don't dress for Halloween. The Street party we used to go to every year has become increasingly more sketchy and last year a few people were killed there. So we're probably staying home.

I am dressing up as little bo peep for the kids school carnival (have to dress up since I am a PTO officer) and then on halloween we are going to a halloween party and my girlfriend and I are both dressing up as vampires.
brieanna my oldest is dressing as a bumble bee, Hailey is dressing as a cheetah and Ella is dressing as a lamb.

I'll probably just nab my sister's pirate costume since I didn't get a chance to order anything new this year.  Hubby will go as "Vash the Stampede" from Trigun.  My daughter is going as Bumblebee and my son is going as Optimus Prime.

I'm dressing up as a Beer Maid/Tavern Girl.  I ordered a genuine German beer stein from Ebay to go with the costume and I'm really excited!  I'm trying to talk my boyfriend into wearing lederhosen, but he wants to be a viking.  ::)

Hmm, last year I did the pirate thing, too.  My son was a ninja, so we were playfighting all day.  Year before I went as a fallen angel type, black dress, these great realistic demon fangs, black and red wings, real barbed wire halo.

I'm kinda at a loss, this year.  We're not doing the usual, which is me helping out at my son's class party/school Halloween parade, then trick or treating at night.  This year, for 5th grade, they don't need parents around, so no need to dress up during the day...and at night, we're going to the Tom's River Halloween Parade (second largest in the world!).  I kinda want something low maintainence and durable.  Maybe I'll just wear jeans and a hoodie, then do my face up all pale, and locate my demon fangs. I could be like some kind of undercover vampire or something...

Oh, last year my best friend won a costume contest, she was a "bathtub suicide"  Best costume ever.  She wore black leggings, and a flesh colored tank top, then snugged a rectangular laundry basket down around her waist, with shoulder straps.  She filled the basket up with polyfill stuffing to simulate bubbles, then did very impressive looking ladder wrist cuts, and "drained to death" corpse makeup.  She comes up with the best ideas.  Others:  Voodoo mama (like the chick in Pirates of the Caribbean, but somehow scarier), A Frieda Kahlo death mask painting thing, and a graveyard statue (very well excecuted, no one got it...not even with the fake pigeon, and pigeon poop).

I don't know if I am going to get the opportunity to dress up or not, but if I do I want to think of a costume that will utilize my huge belly. If I am going to waddle around all night looking like I swallowed a beach ball I might as well get some use out of it. Any ideas?

I can only think of offensive costumes. Pregnant nun, Virgin Mary, Brittney Spears...

I'm sure if you search pregnant halloween costumes, you can find something.

I used to have a witch outfit and a clown suit but they somehow got left behind last time I moved.  Since then all I have left is my Doctor disguise.  I usually wear a lab coat with a stethescope around my neck.  This year I'm adding to the look by handing out the candy in a bed pan!  (But I guess that would make me a nurses aide, not a doctor!  :yelcutelaugh:)

Everyone knows my theme. :)

Two years ago we went as Slave Leia and an X-Wing pilot.

Last year I had an emergency appendectomy 2 days before Halloween and all the parties.

This year I will be Aayla Secura (http://wiki.jedi.com.ua/images/9/95/260px-AaylaSecura.jpg) and jpk will be Boba Fett. (I assume I don't need to post a pic of Boba Fett ;))  The costumes are being custom made, and should hopefully look quite authentic!

This is why I started a thread a couple months ago asking about experiences with body paint. :)  I just ordered various shades of blue, and hopefully one of them will be a good match for my costume.

I want to see pictures!!

I won't be dressing up this year, since I don't have anything to dress up for...  No parties, and the in-laws stopped giving out candy a few years back, which is why I always used to dress up.  We don't have enough kids in our neighborhood to justify buying candy (which I WILL eat if it's in the house) and dressing up.  I think there was 1 group going around last year that had 6 or 7 kids in it, and that was it!  So, we'll pretend to not be home.  ;)

I do wish I had a reason to dress up, though...  *sigh*

I can't find any pictures of him where you can see his whole costume, but here's a group shot.  He's in the lower left corner.

A friend of mine who's pregnant is going as Sarah Palin's daughter, which I thought was a bit tacky...stick to making fun of the candidate, not the children she's clearly doing such a great job of raising... ::)

I'm not dressing up this year, my daughter is going to be at her dad's and I live in BFE so it's not like I'll get trick or treaters.  My routine costumes in the past were RHPS's Magenta and Cavewoman...I have the perfect hair for both...

I'm also going as Luna Lovegood! I just found out that my internship is having a Halloween Party one of the days we're there, and everyone gets to dress up. That means multiple opportunities to dress up if I go to a party as well.  ;D

I have a hard act to follow. Last year I won runner up for best costume dressed as Carrie, and the year before I was the hit of another party as Napoleon Dynamite. I hope my Luna is as well received.

I'm not dressing up.  Every year I go to my mom's big blowout party that she has.  She lives on a parade route, so she always makes a lot of food and people usually just show up.  I used to dress up but I swear it's always the coldest day of the year.

I know what you mean!  The other year I was invited to a halloween party and I just dressed up as a cat.  I made it really simple.  I have a pair of leopard print pants that were perfect.  I actually made the ears out of cardboard and used a clip to attach them to a black headband.

There you can kind of see the leopard print pants.  I really like them because they're red and black instead of the yellowish color and black.

Ugh...I know...if you're thin, then every costume is a "sexy" thing....like "sexy bee" or "sexy devil."  I think it was Mean Girls where they said that Halloween was just an excuse for girls to put on animal ears with lingerie and call it a costume...but if you're fat, then every costume is just basically a long robe.  Costume makers have no imagination.  Even the kids costumes are getting to be too "sexy."  My daughter is going as Wednesday Addams this year, but she wanted to go as a dead cheerleader, sexy version, of course.  And she's only 9...but her friends are all doing it, so she thinks she can do it too...so I had to pull out one of those "mom" lines..."Am I ________'s Mom?  No, I'm your mom..." ::)

I've finally decided what to dress as for Halloween!  I'll show pics of it after this weekend, since I'm going to a costume party.  I don't want to say what I am going as before then.  :)

This wig is a part of it though!

I got it tonight...  doesn't look too fake, so that's good.  :)

I'm wearing my normal clothes, nitrile gloves, my hair covered with a tray with a box of Cheerios with a gunshot and Cheerios scattered around (faux ones, my rats wouldn't let me keep the real ones), a box of Raisin Bran Crunch with a noose around it's "neck", a box of granola stuff laying down with a vial of green goo next to it labeled "Poison" with the skull on it and a box of Corn Chex with a plastic knife in it with the Chex around.

If you can't figure it out, I'll let you know after Halloween :)

Abby from NCIS is pretty easy in some ways.  Black wig in braids and hit up Hot Topic pretty much.  Put a lab coat over the top.  There ya go :)

Very close :)  A serial Cereal killer....  Sorry, it had to be done :)

The rats enjoy the idea, they've helped eat the cereal and they'll get boxes early once I'm done with them.

Oh, the green goo is nothing bad really.  It's just homemade silly putty made gooey-ier than normal.  And yes, gooey-ier is a word :)

I just have a really cheap, boring pirate costume. It's just for a little thing my sister is having at her house... normally I don't "do" Halloween, but I didn't want to be the only one without a costume lol.

I contemplated being a banana, but there's no way I would have been comfortable in that thing for more than 5 minutes.

I'm going to be an over-tired, overworked veterinary intern that is treating all the chocolate toxicity dogs for the week after Halloween is over! Can't wait...

I'm kind of dressing up... I'm going for the modern vampire thing.  Twilight-inspired, I know... regular (dark) clothes, and...

...FANGSSS!!! http://www.vampfangs.com/Scarecrow-Subtle-Small-Custom-Vampire-Fangs-p/sksm.htm

I'm so excited for my fangs.  I think I'll wear them around all the time, just for fun!  But I'm not going to put them on the same teeth as in the picture.  That's biologically incorrect. :cheeky:  They're going on the canines!

I'll post pictures when I get them! ;D

**EDIT** Got my fangs and molded them!  Not a great picture, but here:
