Everything will work out perfectly. SNKK

Hi I have a ferret that is 8 months old and he LOVES being outside. I am a first time ferret owner and have a question. We are making him a pen out in the backyard so he can play * while supervised* ( and in a cool spot so it is not to hot for him) and was wondering what should we make the pent out of? We want something cheap and not to expensive. Would screen be a bad idea? Could they tear through it? Thanks Smiley

I imagine they could tear through screen pretty easily.  Try to find hardware cloth at your local hardware store.  It's relatively easy to work with, and tough enough to withstand ferret play, you'll just have to be aware that they will climb it.  Smiley

Chicken wire would probably work. I don't know if it's cheaper than hardware cloth.

My thought was that chicken wire might be a bit too big, but I'm not sure of that, so it's certainly something to look into.  Smiley

Remember that ferrets can dig quite well. Make sure whatever you make has a bottom.
