Traveling with ferrets
«

We're going on vacation in June, and I need help with a travel cage. Their cage doesn't fold up, and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on where I can buy an inexpensive one. As far as a 1.5 hour trip, do I need to try to wedge a litter pan in the cat carriers for them?

Just an idea, but I was thinking of those long rabbit cages you can get at petsmart. No levels so babies dont tumble when going over a bump, but enough room to stretch out. Also, you will need a water bottle, cause ferrets are thirsty lil things!

For a 1.5 hour trip, I think a cat carrier would be fine. Offer a water bottle, and take a portable, disposable cat litter box or something compact and take them out with it if need be. They'll probably be excited the first 30 minutes then sleep the rest of the way.

I think a large cat carrier with a litterbox, some bedding, and food and water would be enough(maybe a small jingle ball or chew treat if they like that to would be good) for a 1.5 hour trip.

I looked on the Martin's site and found a travel playpen. I guess that is what I'll buy for them to live in while we're on vacation. They'll travel by cat carrier, but I needed ideas as to what to keep them in while they're ot free ranging. They free range alot, but I'm not comfortable, especially ina new environment, letting them out all the time without supervision. At my place, they can be left out for a few minutes while I'm out, but they're just too darn curious for much more than that. LOL
