I thought I'd introduce myself and say "hi!" plus ferret pic.

This is my little fluff Misty (short for the Magical Miss Mistoffelees and named after the character from the musical Cats whom she acts like).

I also have two cats, a green cheeked conure, two chinese water dragons, three brazilian rainbow boas, two southern scrub pythons, one moluccan scrub python, one ball python, five boa constrictors, and a fiance.  He's more work than all of the critters combined.  Wink

Welcome! I love the term "carpet shark" Yellow Cute Laugh I'd never heard it until I started researching ferrets. She's gorgeous!

Thanks.  I think so too, but then I'm biased.  Grin  Carpet shark and slinky are my favorite terms for ferrets, followed by boneless furry snake.

Dew?  Is that what they're called?  You can tell I'm a herper since I call her a leucistic.   Grin

Ahh, in that case, yes, she's a dew.  What are the various terms for ferret colorations, if you know?  I'm planning on getting another ferret in a year or so and I'd love to have a sense of what all of m options for coloration of the animals are.

lol  That's pretty much how I am.  My favorites (aside from my little Misty) are the silvers.  Of course, I got my little girl because I saw her in a pet shop and thought she was very cute but talked myself out of it because ferrets had never been on my list of pets that I wanted.  When I stopped back by after Christmas break (which was about a month and a half long since I wasn't taking a winter session class) she was still there and one of the pet shop people told me that she had been purchased and returned for biting twice.   So since she was giving me the ferret version of this face: Blue Dumbo Big Eyes I gave up and brought her home.  Three broken or broken out of cages and absolutely no bites later, she lives in my guest bathroom and my bedroom (I switch her back and fourth so she doesn't get bored with her surroundings when I'm not home to play with her).  I will never again be without a ferret.

You have your basic four colors; Sable, DEW, Albino and Silver. All of the rest of the colors fall into one of those four categories... Here's a website that explians it all: Ferret Coloring
