Do you think it would be ok to take in a 7 month old male ferret and eventually let him live with my 3 female ferrets who are all around ginger is 1 years old and the other 2 are 2 years old?  I have a giant cage, and $ for vets and I feed 8in1 Ultimate Crunchy 45% food.. my girls are on the small side ginger is a bit bigger and i have been told this littlte guy weighs around 3lbs... do you think it would be ok? or does anyone forsee any problems?

thanks

i don't see a problem with adding a boy to your girls.  i have two of the tiniest little girls in with my three fat lumps of boys, and they not only hold their own, they rule the cage!

do you have a seperate cage to house him in while he adjusts, and during the introduction process?

is this boy your looking at a single ferret?  has he always been a single ferret?  do you know if he is social with other ferrets?  what will you do if intros don't work out?  what if he doesn't accept your girls, or visa versa?  are you willing and able to provide for two seperate ferret groups?  if he has to remain a single ferret, will you still be able to give him all the attention, love, and play time he needs seperately from your girls?

that would be my only concern with adding another....

I have another extra large cage sitting not being used... He is a single ferret... The person who owns him said he has played well with her friends ferrets, i saw her ad on ebay about him (not allowed to auction off live things on ebay), then in the newspaper, and now on craigslist... her reason for finding her 6-7month old male ferret is because she and her boyfriend live in a small apartment and they just took in 3 kittens and she said kittens/cats are independent during the day while she and her boyfriend are at work and she feels bad that the ferret doesnt have another ferret friend during the day and that  she doesnt have time to spend with him or to care for him (as she has never taken him to the vet for his much needed shots...) My 3 are all up to date on their distemper shots and what not... also she is hoping to find him a home before she takes him to the aurora IL humane society or back the the store where she got him so that he can sit there and wait to be adopted... Or if i dont feel comfortable about it for whatever reason i might just tell her about the local ferret shellter that is a no kill shelter that is a good place with caring people..  also she is feeding him the kaytee ferret food... which is not a good food... i feed the 8in1 ultimate crunchy.... and i offer the 8in1 moist version weekly... Trust me if i do go to see him this week, i am going to take my time to check him over for bugs and personality and anything else i can tell from just meeting him and if i take him i am going straight to my vets office for a overall checkup on health.. and to get him started on his series of shots... from the pictures he is a solid dark brown with the face mask and dark nose

I live about 10 minutes away from where he is at now and I am actually worried about what might happen to him...   so I am thinking, i have the extra cage, i have cash for whatever he might need, I have time... I work out of my home for a business i run...

No if they mate and have some kids then that is very illegal unless you have a license to do it! That is also is very bad for there health!

it sounds like you've got the situation under control.  just make sure you introduce them slowly and you should be fine.  i foster ferrets for a recue in MD and i have ferrets coming in and out all of the time.  i have at the moment two 4-5 year old boys and 3 9 month old girls.  everyone gets along great.  introduce them in a "neutral territory" (like when they're out) and monitor them closely.  don't worry about a little bit a squeaking, that's normal.  the only time you should be worried is if you see blood or if the squeaking is really prolonged (use your own judgement).  good luck!  i hope you like your new boy!

If the boy is spayed, it's not a problem...
