Do ferrets get along with dogs?

Depends on the dog and it depends on the ferret.

You have to use your common sense and your judgement. Do you see your dog tolerating a ferret or two? A ferret is like a troublesome two year old that generally doesn't listen. Even if you think your dog would be fine and trust him/her, ferrets should never be left unsupervised with any animal. Never allow a ferret to come into contact to or be in the same room with rats, hamsters, rabbits, gerbils, mice, etc. They are prey to ferrets, no matter how well your ferret is trained or how fast you think you are, ferrets are smart and quick, and can switch into predator mode at any moment.

Ferrets are also fearless, so a large dog barking is just a call for a fight for them. They won't head the warning signs that the dog is mad and could go in to a fight only to be hurt ): (I had to housesit at a ex's house and had my ferrets out the same time as King a large dog was in the same room. Lugh went after the food and king growled. I ran up just in time as Lugh had hopped back and was war dancing his way to 'play' with the big giant fun things They never were out in the same room again)

It really does depend on the ferret and the dog... My dog is great with ferrets... But that is only because I took a long time training her to be that way... At first she wanted to eat them. But then she learned that ferrets are friends, not food. Now they love to play together.

But you can never trust any dog around any ferret unsupervised. Ferrets like to annoy other animals...
