Be kind to every living thing!

« on: January 01, 2008, 11:20:10 PM »

I had kind of half heartedly looking for a new friend for Sam since Penny died. I'm not used to having to look for animals. Usually they "come to me."

I saw two beautiful ferrets whose person was moving and looking for a new home for them because he couldn't have ferrets at his new place. I restrained myself for a week and a half before I finally emailed him, not actually asking to adopt the ferrets, but just casually mentioning that I couldn't believe his ad was still up and that they were still available.

I'd actually forgotten about it until last Friday when I received an email stating that he had just got around to replying to the ad and that they were still available and if I was still interested in adopting them! I was flabbergasted! I wrote him back and told him YES! I also explained everything I could tell him about my ferret
experience, my vets, and referred him to my website for more personal information. He wrote me back the next day saying that he didn't think he'd ever be able to find a better home for them than with me. Awwww!
I cried.

We arranged to meet yesterday and I now have two beautiful babies a male Cinnamon named Prince and silver mitt who is almost a DEW named Saber. She has a few streaks of silver in her fur and that's it. Believe me,
pictures don't do these little ones justice! They are absolutely gorgeous! They are very young. He said they had only had them for 3 months. Along with them I got their cage, food, litter, toys, hammocks, etc. everything for free!  I'm soooo happy! Let's hope that Sam is just as excited to have new roommates.

Awww Congratulations Arlene!  They are so super cute!   And I love the pic with the doggy poking his head through like "Oooo whose the newbies?"  LOL

Please keep us posted on their antics and what Sam thinks of them.

Hi Staci,

These are the pictures taken by the family who had them before me. I still need to take pictures of them! I still need new names. Prince and Saber just isn't going to do! Any suggestions?

We have decided to call the boy Pip from Dicken's Great Expectations and it fits him. But we still don't have a new name for the little girl.

They were hilarious today. I found a toy that they loved. It was a mouse about 98 inches tall which is motion activated. It plays music and dances. They would circle it and it would start dancing and be still and it would stop. They were touching it with their noses and finally Pip grabbed it and tried to run away with it. Obviously he can't be around the ratties! I wish I'd videotaped it but I wasn't prepared.

We have a name for the little girl now. We are going to call her Melina.  Smiley I told our Melina (The Chicago Crew) before I posted. She was thrilled.  Wink

They're lovely! Their Mom/Dad must have been heartbroken to have to give them up, but what better place than at Arlene's "zoo". LOL Congrats to everyone. And my husband LOVES the sharpei.

Hi there!

These are the pictures that were sent by their original family so the dog is theirs. They told me that he is a bluenosed pittbull. She has a chihuahua and he has the Pitt. They are only allowed two pets so the ferrets were the ones who lost out. I adore them and so does Sam! I have a video of them playing if I can ever get around to transferring it.
