we went to the vet this morning (mostly to get noki's teeth trimmed), thistle went as company.  she's lost a tiny bit of weight and guess what...the vet said it was okay for her to be on pred and an antibiotic for the rest of her life.  YAY!!! so i have more pred for her.  her lungs are clear and other than being thin, with a bad coat, and the residual neuro stuff, she's good to go! yay thissie!!!

well, thistle is fading again--she's not active and she mostly lays around.  her appetite is iffy.  i've upped her pred, but she's not rebounding any more.  our vet appointment is tomorrow morning and i told the tech that we would probably be putting her to sleep,  unless of course she rebounds again.  this little rattie lady, my thissie,  is so strong and brave.  i've told her she can go, but she doesn't want to leave me.  please keep thistle in your thoughts, send her lots of kisses, and healthy vibes.

well, she's eating scrambled eggs and baby food chicken.  she's still not very active.  i don't know what to do, so i think it's going to depend on what the vet says.

they're still bright. she's still drinking water too and she is taking fairly good care of herself.  basically the only things that i see are that she's lost weight, she sleeps a lot--i mean a lot, she's become inactive, and she takes a long time to eat. to give you an example about her level of activity: she used to stay in the bonding pouch exactly five minutes before she wanted out, now it's an hour or more.

I'm so sorry to hear about your girl. Poor thing has fought so hard for so long.  Love her all that you can during whatever time she has left and use your best, kindest judgement tomorrow and know that nobody could have ever loved her more than you.

I agree with Shelagh.  If her eyes are bright, and she's still showing interest in life, it's not her time yet.  Enjoy the cuddle time with her.  Rats in their twilight times are amazingly sweet, and you'll cherish every moment of that time later.  Smiley

well, i took thistle to the vets this morning because she's breathing too fast.  thissie has some congestion so she's now on baytril along with her pred.  the vet thinks she's okay for a while.  pi isn't happy because she's on baytril too now.
