So, this ad just popped up on Craigslist.:

Steve is a lovely ferret mix that was rescued a year ago. He doesn't bite or anything. Very friendly. Eats anything and never gets sick. Can be left to run arround the house (loves to get under the kitchen sink)

Now, call me crazy, but in the picture, he looks like a rat.  A large black rat, but a rat.  Rats and ferrets are completely different types of species, there's now way they can 'mix', eh?  Is there -anything- a ferret can breed with that makes some kind of 'mix'?  Or is this person just off their rocker?

To add on more discussion:  What is the dumbest question you've ever asked?  What is the dumbest question anyone has ever asked you?

Aren't most ferrets spayed or neutered to begin with? Or is that just Marshall's ferrets? Even so no, I don't think there's any animal other than another closely-related weasel that a ferret could produce viable offspring with.

Ferret mix? Huh I have no clue...

This isn't the stupidest question I've ever been asked, but yesterday I was telling my sister that in the morning I was going to watch a new episode of one of my TV shows. She asked, "Oh, is it a new one?"  Well, yes actually lol.

And I'm sure I've asked plenty of stupid questions, but none I can remember right now.

HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!

Yes, that looks like a hamster x ferret mix?   I can't see the tail in that picture...are they sure it's not a squirrel mix?  Some shelters will just label anything a ferret mix when the have no idea what the real breed is....
