HI everyone
This has been a really strange week for me and ratties.

First I have 2 black and white hooded males that were left in an
apartment when their owners moved. The are prolly about a year or so
and sweet as they can be.

Second I have 2 black and white verigated male dumbos believed to be about
6 months or so. A little skittish but are coming around more and more
each day.Owner surrender to the rescue I foster dogs for.

Then this morning I got a call from a manager at a petstore that said
she found 3 little rats running around the store......caught them,
but couldnt bring her self to put them in with the "feeders".Needless
to say, they are here with me now.( Im such a sucker!!) They are
tiny.....prolly just weaned. One is a blue hooded, one a tan hooded
and the tiniest one is a pew.The store manager said that all the
feeders they had were black and white so she has no idea where these
little girls came from. **Tiney pew was adopted**

If anyone is interested in helping these kids out....Please let me
know!!! Im running out of room!!!!! Thanks so much!!!

I'd be willing to drive rats (must adopt 2 or more to make it worth gas money) up to 2 hours in any direction from St Charles, MO. Partial gas money would be appreciated. I am also going to Columbus, Ohio on the 20th of June and can take rats with me then but adopters MUST pick up that day as we'll be staying in a hotel and will be gone pretty much Fri night, all of Saturday and Sunday attending a leadership convention.

Here's a pic of one of the dumbos. Super cute!

Here's an older rat with bumblefoot Leigh just picked up at a shelter that doesn't take rats and probably would've euth'd him soon.

If you are willing to let me try and set up a rattie train I would REALLY love the dumbo boys to come live here with me.

*bows down to their adorableness*

ETA: In north of Houston, Tx.

ETA2:

I just did a mapquest thing. It seems the best way, if you are up for it, is to do this:

St. Louis --> Memphis (perhaps someone in between as well)
Memphis --> Little Rock
Little Rock --> Texarkana
Texarkana --> Me

I could probably drive the 5hrs to Texarkana and back. I might know someone willing to do the leg from Little Rock --> Texarkana.

*is excited at prospect* I have been searching EVERYWHERE for a black hoodie dumbo male! You have 2 for adoption. I really hope this can work out.

Brilliant!

St. Louis ---> 2hrs from there (someone from MO will have to help with a location)  Yellow Cute Laugh [Heather]
Said Location --> Memphis
Memphis ---> Little Rock [Kendra]
Little Rock ---> Texarkana [Asking a friend of mine]
Texarkana ---> Dallas [90% sure a friend of mine can]
Dallas ---> Me [Friend or Me, dependinding]

So.. anyone in Mo willing to do that part of the journey, and someone in Little rock willing to do the journey, that would be great. In the meantime Ill ask around the other forum I attend. *so excited*

ETA: If its alright with everyone, the rattie train is going to have to wait until after July 14th. We are going on vaca (5-14) and I don't want to leave them alone so soon afterward in a new house with new animals and (non-rattie friendly) people.

ETA 2: Ill post a "transport help needed" thread to see if more people can help. Smiley A backup or two is always a good idea.

I am still hoping to take the dumbo boys. I have found transport for all the parts except 1/2 way to St. Louis ---> Memphis and Little Rock ---> Texarkana.

Would it be possible for me to pay you guys for gas for transport to Memphis? I don't mind doing that. Or.. perhaps, do you know anyone in the St. Louis or Cape Giradeau areas that would be willing to drive down to Memphis? Im still looking for help in the Little Rock area, my contact backed out.

ETA (6/20/08):

I think I found a complete transport!

Are the girls still available? I am helping out with the train so I might be able to take one of the girls, or both. I had two girls I "rescued" and have found homes after 1 day. I know of several people down here who are quietly looking and I can probably get them adopted down here if you haven't had luck with finding them homes.

Lemme send out some emails with those photos, I just had someone interested in my black berkie but my vet ALSO wanted a black berkie. The agouti is gorgeous too. I'll get back to you!

I forgot to ask.. How long have the little dumbo boys been with you? Im wondering if they will need to be q-tined when I get them or not. I have a small cage that I can use and a separate space, but if they have been there for a while and are healthy...

Oh, and do you have some sort of carrier for them to travel in?

Im so excited to be getting them!  Hyper

The Dumbo boys have been with me for about 2 months. As long as they have been here, they havent had any health problems. I would still qtine just to be safe, for your own ratties sake. I have had quite a few rats come thru here and wouldnt want to take any chances. Is this really coming together?Huh   Shocked 2  Hyper

Yup, the rattie train is fully formed and pretty much set to go, I think.

As long as Heather and you agree I think July 18th will be the starting date.  Blue Dumbo Smile
