I was at work yesterday checking out this guest and my crown popped off! I froze... "what was that?!" I got my tempoary crown put on wednesday. I had the root canal in february from a necrotic nerve. (ouuch) Apperently I was walking around all this time with *just* a buildup! I've had a temporary crown on for 6 years waiting for my mouth to stop growing and had no trouble with it! This was on for 3 days! My boss was like just put it in your pocket. Um no thanks. This whole thing has beeen very expensive since my insurance doesn't support the dentistry.  So I walked over to the pharmacy and they gave me "dentemp" I was like freaking out too. It's stayed on so far. I'm afraid to eat or do anything because it might fall off. I cant swollow it! Hopefully my dentist will fixx it monday. It was a new assistent that put on my temporary and it fell off then too. It's probably not all her fault though. I don't think she dried my tooth off well enough. Yeah... if they won't see me hopefully this will last until the 4th when I go get my permanent crown. The dentemp stuff has clove oil in it. Let me tell you the taste does not go away. It's making me sick to my stomach because I keep tasting it. Sad

Ughhh....clove oil is disgusting.  I'm really sorry you had/have to go through that. I had clove oil put on my dry socket when I had my wisdom teeth out and you're right- it never goes away!! Hopefully you will be able to get your crown fixed and you can stop using that stuff. *fingers crossed*

The dentist should get you in right away on Monday, I would leave a message this weekend so they call you right away on Monday.  Temporary crowns come off for many reasons, as the cement is temporary.  Often a food you would not even consider to be sticky is enough to make one come off.  If it comes off again, just make sure you keep the area really clean.  And get to the dentist Monday, you do not want the gum to change contour, making it so tissue has to be removed or the prep needs to be done again.

   Good Luck
