I love the picture!!! I would love to get a 4d, but they are expensive ( at least in my area they are) and money is tight right now.  Oh heck, money is always tight...LOL.  Hopefully I can get one done before Collin is born.  Someone from my husbands job gave him a $50 visa gift card for the baby.  We are going to go out tonight and see if we can get a couple of things for the baby.  I am super excited.  Being this is our second child, no hope for a bay shower here.  We weren't planning on another child, so after about 3 1/2 years of keeping all my sons baby things, we got rid of a lot of things.  6 months later I found out I was pregnant again.  Luckily, the stroller, car seat, crib are all still around.  The babies furniture (dresser, changing table, etc) was all still in my sons room until we moved 2 weeks ago.  He got new (used, but new to us...LOL) big boy furniture for his room.  It's just all the little expensive things we need yet.  Clothes, towels, diaper bag, bottles, high chair, bouncy seat, bedding (we still have all the crib sheets, but need the comforter, bumper and mobile) and things of that nature.  I wanted to use cloth diapers for the baby to cut down on waste and expenses, but they are really expensive to purchase up front.  We are probably going to have to alternate between cloth diapers and disposables until I have enough to completely go over to cloth.  Hubby is not happy about the cloth diaper thing, but since I am the one who doesn't work, I will be the one doing the laundry.  We will probably still use disposables when we are out and about, but cloth diapers at home. I guess I still have a little time to work all of this out....LOL

I dont get a baby shower either.. Even though its my first. i dont know enough people in the area lol
im getting my crib on thursday Cheesy Its a nursery in a box .. sounds cheap but My friend has them. its the Crib, changing table and a dresser for 199. Good price lol
And erics dad is going to buy the travel system... and We pretty much have everything else lol. I ordered a crib set afterall.. lol. and some other random stuff so I'm good.. Once Eric's dad buys the stroller lol
But that will be 3 weeks from now Tongue haha
The 4ds are expensive... well around 100 each time... but I think its worth it especially seeing as this is our "miracle baby" and you never know.. we might not be able to have more. the doctors might not have been wrong and well.. yeah

Gone, but not forgotten

ratgirl2, upfront cost was a big factor for us as well in the beginning.  What we wound up doing was buying a few at a time to build our stash.  Check out DiaperSwappers.  That's where I've bought most of my stash, and I've had nothing but positive experiences.  As DS grew out of one size, we'd sell those to buy the next size up.  I also eventually learned to sew, so I could make my own diapers.  DS is 2 now, and mostly PL'd, so we aren't in cloth anymore.   I can honestly say I can't wait until we have another so I can start using those cute dipes again!  I don't think we've bought a disposable diaper since our son was a month old, and have even gone on week long vacations with no washer and used cloth.

What I wound up doing once I figured out what I liked was use pocket or AIO diapers while we were out.  Since they're waterproof, they work just as well as a sposie (Better, IMO!), and don't need an extra cover like a prefold or fitted diaper would.  Then we used fitteds at home, either coverless or with wool covers.

To cut back on costs, aside from buying used, you can get one-size diapers so you don't need to keep buying new diapers as your child grows.  Most will fit right through potty learning, but usually run a little too big on the smallest sizes to fit a newborn.  You could also use prefolds.  They do have a learning curve, but they're cheap, easy to clean, and very versatile.  Preemie prefolds can be used as doublers if you need a boost in absorbency, infants can be used as inserts in pocket diapers.  You can also get Snappis now, so you don't even have to use pins.  You could also look into prefold fitteds, in which the prefolds have been converted to have elastic so you don't need to do any folding.  Just snappi or pin, and your good to go.  Tinkle Traps are a great one, and she's a VERY nice WAHM to deal with.

I didn't find laundry to be too bad.  I found the infant diapers were "easy".  You're changing more often, but I didn't find they smelled bad, and one of the perks of breastfeeding was the poo is water soluble.  Now, once he turned 6 months and started getting solids...  lol

Just one last note, since I'm not sure how old your older child is...  Be sure to check the date on that carseat, and check for recalls.  Carseats do expire, and that's something you really don't want to skimp on, kwim?  Of course, if you already know this, then ignore me.  Wink

I was lucky when it came to timing.  My birthday and mothers day are within days of each other, so family members got together and got me a "fancy" US as a gift.   It was amazing!

Since nobody has posted for a while, I thought I would give a quick update and ask how everyone else is doing.

I just had my 28 week checkup and ultrasound last Tuesday. Everything looks great. We even watched him "practicing" breathing on the scan. I have gained 22 pounds so far, and my doctor wants me to make sure I don't "over do it" with the eating  Tongue I can't help it though, I am STARVING all the time! I guess I just need to try to satisfy myself with healthier choices since I have been giving myself a bit of a free reign with sweets.

She is expecting Toby to be around 8 lbs at birth. Of course that is just an estimate, but he is measuring big for my due date, especially his head. Won't that be fun... help I start going to the DR. every two weeks now. I hope that will help time go by faster because I am getting really anxious to meet my little man. I also won't mind my bladder not being used as a sofa anymore.

Other than some general tiredness and soreness I feel really great right now. How is everyone else?

I am doing really well.  10 weeks and counting until my little guy is here.  I still haven't gained any weight as of yet.  I was down 17lbs, I gained 6 lbs last month and on Thursday I went back to the doctor and was down 2lbs, so a total loss of 13lbs.  With my first son, I was all eat, eat, eat and I still only gained 10lbs.  This baby is seems to  be leaning on my stomach or something and I feel full all the time.  Unfortunately if I don't eat, I get real nauseous so that doesn't do my any good either.  My doctor waited until 30 weeks to start my 2 week checkups and from past experience, this is when time really flies. Especially with all the holidays coming up, I know we are going to be extremely busy.  I am trying to get a lot of my Christmas stuff done now, that way I can work on things slowly. I went through to see what lights are working and what lights aren't, put together what pieces we are going to be using for the Christmas village.  I am already working on the menu for our Christmas Eve get together.  Though, I think this year we are going to go really simple with Christmas eve dinner.  It's usually drop in, so we are going to do meat/cheese platters, veggie platter and a nice fruit tray or something like that.  I know my Mother in law is going to want to cook something and bring it over, but that makes clean up so much more difficult.  I only want to use things I can throw away, NO PAN SCRUBBING!!  LOL.  Glad to hear everything is going well with you, it won't be much longer now!!!

Yep! I hit 32 weeks today. I can't really believe it. It seems to be going fast now. Everything is still going well. I had to do the 24 urine test, due to protein in my urine and lots of swelling. I will find out about that at my appointment on Monday. I feel good, but tired! By 10 pm I am usually falling asleep whether i want to be or not. He is getting big enough that some of his movements hurt, especially when he stretches! My belly looks like something out of an alien movie when he is moving around. It grosses my husband out  Roll Eyes. I am glad it is the holiday season, it will help the rest of my time fly by.

How is everyone else?

I am doing well.  I am 33 weeks now and ready for this whole thing to be over...LOL.  My little man is causing me so much discomfort I can hardly walk some days.  He dropped a bit in the past day or so, so my bladder has been taking the hit, have to wear panty liners to keep from wetting my pants at times..LOL.  Hubby continues to laugh at me regularly especially when I try to bend over to pick something up or when I am trying to roll over in bed and i have to take a breather in the middle of the turn  Roll Eyes  The holiday season is proving to be a busy time for us already and it hasn't even begun    I am looking forward to actually meeting my little guy in person though!

awww look at your  cute round belly. I wish my belly looked like that, but alas, I my belly just looks fatter than it did before...LOL.  We were at applebees for dinner the other night and the manager came over to check on us and she had this cute little preggo belly.  She only looked like she was 5 mos along or something like that.  Hubby says to her I think she (meaning me) will need a doggy box, she is not going to eat all that since she is 8 months pregnant and the baby is taking up all the room.  She goes oh, when are you due, I told her Dec. 31st and she says oh, I'm due Dec. 22nd.  I think my jaw hit the floor when she told me she gained 40 lbs!!!!!  I actually lost weight and I look like a beached whale....LOL.  Oh well, I guess everyone is different.   Your belly probably won't grow all that much in the next 7 weeks.  The baby gains weight, but you start to lose some of the fluid, so it really evens out in the end.
