Owned By 5 ratty boys!

« on: July 03, 2008, 08:09:08 PM »

Hello, I just rescued these little nekkie babies 2 days ago, and all the lady I got them from said was that she thinks they're somewhere under 4 months. Just wondering if you experts could tell me by these pics, about how old these cuties are?

And one more thing.... do you think they could be successfully introduced to my other 3 boys, who are full grown and just under a year old? Because I was hoping to maybe start intro's in a few weeks. Thanks for any help.

Here's Gollum

And Precious

And here's me holding Precious, just for a size comparison with my hand

TIA.

I'd say around 3 months, given their size. They could be older and small rats, but not much older than 4 months, I think.

Thanks so much for chiming in Scout. I was guessing about 2-3 months, but I've never had babies before so I wasn't sure.
Do you think the age difference between them and my older boys will matter when considering intro's?

I was thinking about 2 months - and I don't see any reason your older boys wouldn't accept them, given proper intros.
Very cute, btw!

Great to know that the age difference shouldn't matter.
And thank you two for the compliments, I'm a very proud new Mama! Grin

They should be easier to intro now while their smaller and less threatening. Even so, they are both complete doll babies!!!

Those ears are just to much Grin Both are absolutely adorable. You know how much they weigh? They look in the 2-3 month range in the pics.

such cute pictures!!!!!!  they do seem young, only about 3 months in my opinion.  I think intros should be okay.  I have 3 boys who are all over a year old and I just intro'd a 6 week old baby into the clan and they accepted him with flying colors.  I always find my older boys cuddled with the younger boys, it's really sweet.

Boy if these little nekkies could read, their heads would be so big right now! I'm so proud.
They have warmed right up to me, they are already grooming me a little, and love sleeping in my shirt. And they have begun bruxing, too! Yay. They're in quarantine right now, in our air conditioned garage room. Once the QT period is over, I may start introducing them slowly to my 3 man-rats. Blue Dumbo Smile I do have a concern about them being able to slip through the bars of the FF, if/when I put them all together. Hopefully by then they'll be big enough, though.

Oh, and I do not have a scale here at home, I only know how much my ratties weigh when they go to the vet, so I'm not sure of their weight.

I would say 3-4 months. My two newest boys were still pretty tiny at 4 months, and these guys look about the same or a little larger than mine were at 4 months.

They are adorable! I would guess 2-3 months also. They look like they have a long, happy life ahead of them. Smiley
