I think that most people, obviously not including the people on this site, would consider my love of rats to be my main guilty pleasure. Cheesy

I guess mine would have to be Reality crime TV shows (like 'Snapped'). What can I say... I love drama.

Web comics.  I have many that I'm addicted to and check constantly for updates.

Hey, I do this too!  Which ones do you read?

Here's one that I actually do think is a little embarrassing:  I watch the educational kids' shows on the public channel as I'm getting ready for work in the morning... Curious George, and whatnot.

Also, pretty much the only thing I spend money on is manga (Japanese comics), even though I'm in my late twenties.

I know this wasn't directed at me but I'll put in my two cents as well  Grin

If you don't read them already, the only two I read are www.overcompensating.com and www.questionablecontent.net

I love Joanna! She makes me want a zombie kitty of my own.

YEAY!  Questionable Content is my favorite one!!  A friend got me addicted in college.  And I recently came across Girls with Slingshots.  Love it.   Some others I stop by are Rob and Elliot, Theater Hopper, Digital Pimp Online: it's not a porn site, but that would have been cool too (heh, that's it's full title), Dead Days, and there are a few others I found through GwS that I might start following, but the verdict isn't in yet.  I'm too lazy to add the links, but check them out.

I have a whole bookmark folder dedicated to web comics that must be checked constantly.

I've taken up writing what my husband calls ''dirty stories''.  Steamy, subtle, but not explicit.

Haha, yeah; I'm guilty of that one too. Roleplaying..

My main guilty pleasure/s are the twilight books and twilight RPG (Bella Luna and another). I actually managed to snag the character of Bella on one site!

It used to be Most Haunted on the Travel Channel, but it's been supremely LAME the last year. *sigh* I do like when they start screaming and swearing and running around in the dark with the night vision... that's still insanely funny. Smiley

I did find a new one this year at the New York State Fair... deep fried pineapple. Holy. Moly. I have a container of fresh pineapple in the fridge, a deep fryer, vegetable oil and a box of pancake mix. So. Tempted.

A big one for me is still kid's music, beyond some of the recent stuff my favorite bands have been pumping out (BNL, TMBG). I'm talking Animaniacs and stuff like that. I wish I still had my Smurf tapes from when I was a kid... I still get 'Smurf Square Dance' stuck in my head from time to time. Wink

I am full of guilty pleasures, but here's a few off the top of my head...

Taco Bell.  Oh, how I love Teebs, as my friend Mike calls it.  What makes it worse is that one of my co-workers also loves Taco Bell, so sometimes (aka most of the time) when we work together, we talk constantly about what we're going to get from there once we leave.  Plus, the fact that it's only a couple blocks away from my house... very convenient.  And did I mention cheap?!

Shampoos and conditioners.  I am obsessed with buying both, usually depending on either the smell, or how high-end they are.  I have... quite the selection, let's just say that.  I'm always looking for the "perfect" ones, kind of like how most women are always on the hunt for the "perfect" mascara.  No matter how good your current one is, you're left wondering if there's an even better one out there  Wink

Family Guy.  I don't care how many times I've seen an episode, I'll still watch it and will laugh just as much, or more, then I did the first time I saw it.  I have all the DVDs and will have them on in the background while I'm doing things (cutting up hammocks, sewing, cleaning).  I also love the fact that in the evening (I think around 7-8 PM), there's 3 different channels here that have it on  Cheesy

Vh1 'reality' shows.  Oh man, I love/d I Love NY, Flavor of Love, Rock of Love, Hogan Knows Best, The Surreal Life, Celebrity Fit Club, The Cho Show... I don't know why, but I adore them all and get so into them!  Heart

Friends...as in the TV show. I could watch that over and over and over (and I have) without tiring of it.

Another guilty pleasure is the free web browser games. Travian, runescape, Ikariam...I play them at work when I'm bored :-)

WoW is/was a guilty pleasure when I have the time to do it.

I absolutely loved the Smurfs too, but I wish I could find the old tapes we had of Popples, Alf (the cartoon AND with the puppet), The Snorks, and Pound Puppies.  I remember those being some of my favorites, but they were on at times when I couldn't watch them for whatever reasons, so I remember my mom making my older brother tape them for me.  They have to be in a box at my mom's house somewhere...Now that would be a blast from the past to find!  Smiley  hehe, I'm now singing the pound puppies opening theme in my head...

Heart Boomerang to help me remember all the cartoons I loved as a kid!

Hey, my favorite band is They Might Be Giants too!  (Though, conversely and embarrassingly, I had to ask my boyfriend what BNL stood for.)  Anyway, it's rare for me to find someone who's all that familiar with TMBG's music, let alone actually prefers them.  Speaking of their recent stuff, did you like The Else?     Heh, now I'm going to have to listen to them in the car while I'm driving to work this morning...

When I say "Smurf tapes," I don't mean video. Wink I mean music. I had three cassettes of music, with liberal use of the word Smurf as a noun, verb, adjective, etc. LOL!

As for TMBG... I have "The Else," but I haven't listened to it as an album yet... I tend to toss everything into iTunes, and listen to it on shuffle all day. According to iTunes, each track has been played at least once, and about half of it twice... but... I couldn't tell you what any of the songs sound like off the top of my head! LOL!

My favorite TMBG song of all time is "Birdhouse in Your Soul." My favorite kid's song of theirs is "Where Do They Make Balloons?"  Balloon

Totally off the topic of guilty pleasures, but the first place I heard TMBG (Istanbul, not Constantinople) was on Animaniacs.  I suppose Animaniacs could be called a guilty pleasure, especially since I first started watching it in college, and will still stop everything to watch it, if I see it on...  At least then I had the excuse of kids I was babysitting...  LOL

ETA: And now I will be singing "Birdhouse in Your Soul" all day.   Thank you, Suebee...   help

Actually, I think you mean Tiny Toon Adventures. That's the first time I heard them, when they made videos of Istanbul (Not Constantinople) and Particle Man. Grin

I like how we're being non-judgemental to each other!

I refuse to feel guilty about being a big comic book fangirl con-going dr who loving WoW playing geek..  I'm right there with the rest of you and your 'guilty' pleasures.

My personal achilles' heel is bath & body works and the ilk.  I try hard to buy from body shop or other companies who at least profess to try to be ethical... but I just LOVE good/smelly soaps.  I love trying out coordinating products on weekends and husbandguy and I have been known to spend an hour scrubbing each other down and back/foot rubbing with some smell-goodie or other.  We normally try to confine it to weekends out of consideration to possibly smell-sensitive coworkers, but I just love 'stinkin' up the place!  Grin  (The guilty pleasure comes from the fact that about 50% of my personal work income comes from handmade goatmilk/herb soaps.. that we make here... haha).  We do use our own homemade product of course.. but I gotta say I love the aromatherapy over the top Bath & Body works stuff too ^^

Geez... if you take out the word 'WoW' and insert 'Nintendo DS,' you have me.  LOL!  Sisters, unite!  (Though I've only recently grown to like Dr. Who so much... the new series is great!  I was pretty young when the original was airing, and the theme music (and the tie-dye warp tunnel in the opening) freaked me out, so I didn't watch it.  Now the theme gets stuck in my head and I go around the house singing 'Ooooweeeoooooo... Ooooooooowaooo.  Weeeeaaaahhooo waaeeeaaaaahhhhoooo.')

Thats what's my husband hears every time he gets a text message. LOL!

We haven't gotten into the new series, but he loves the original. Smiley It's the polar opposite with Battlestar Galactica... can't stand the old, campy one, but we're completely obsessed with the new series. Grin

I don't consider sci-fi a guilty pleasure, though... not guilty at all! I MET my husband through a sci-fi club in college. Sci-fi GOOD.

I met my boyfriend of five years through an anime club in college!  And I can't consider anime a guilty pleasure, either, even though I think people tend to associate it with a younger crowd (to which I no longer belong... *sigh*).

I guess another guilty pleasure I have is chocolate.  I feel like the biggest stereotypical woman by saying that I LOVE chocolate and wish I could eat it all the time, but... it's true.  THEY (evil work people) made me addicted by having a candy dish available to us employees.... But I do feel guilty when I eat it (as I don't have a very healthy diet to begin with.)

Loving every day with my 7 ratlings

« Reply #51 on: September 04, 2008, 04:06:42 PM »

America's next top model....I met a girl when I went to see a comedy show in NYC who was on the show, and I'd never watched it before.  So I decided, that when the reruns with her came on, I'd watch.  So I did.  Now, if there's nothing else on, I'll put it on, but I change the channel when hubby comes home.  hahaha.  BTW, the girl I met was very sweet and got such a bad rap on that show.  We talked a few times, but I must admit I was intimidated after I learned she was on the show.   Yellow Cute Laugh  So I didn't keep in contact much.

Let's see...what else....AH!  I am a Futurama nerdlinger.  I swear, I think I know all there is to know.  Since day 1 I've been such a junkie for that show.  I even have a Fry tattoo.

Also, food used to be one... Cry

Singing...oh man am I a bad singer.  That's why it's only in the car, alone!

The band The Cure.  I am STILL in love with Robert Smith...ever since I was 14.   Yellow Cute Laugh

Horror movies, blood and guts, serial killer books....now everyone's gonna think I'm a nutcase.  "Watch out for that one, she likes top model and blood!"  lol

and the new Battlestar Galactica...
