Yeah I don't support PetSmart or PetCo for various reasons. If you want to buy the same brand, Gourmet Rodent does sell direct to consumer, just go to their website. The big companies like RodentPro, Gourmet Rodent, they all use CO2. And you can always email them and ask - they're likely not going to lie about it.

I know this is a little off the present topic, but someone told me something yesterday that reminded me of this thread.

Her friends are those kind of people that "like" watching their snake kill the rats, so they refused to feed frozen/thawed. Well, last week, the rat fought back and killed their snake. I was so bummed to find out they took that rat back to Petco...I would have GLADLY taken that kiddo under my wing.

they also provide the leopard geckos and ball pythons.  i found that out when i got my girl.  i would assume that they also provide some other animals, but im not sure.  at least thats what the employees told me.  i keep on hearing it from people that do and have worked at petco.

@ forkyfork
thats so sad about the snake and rat.

Honestly, I've given up on her.  It's frustrating to be around her very long as she brings it up every time just to try and get a row out of me, so I just avoid her.  She likes to ask me if I'll sell her one of my rats.  Undecided

Tell her you've heard that snake tastes like chicken and would like to try it out with their pet snake. See how fast the tables turn. "How could you be so mean and assume that HER pet would make good food?"  Yellow Cute Laugh

My Ball Python is such an idiot he wouldn't know how to eat something if it was alive. I would never feed him live, it's just not right. Besides with the way he has to nudge everything before slowly picking it up and swallowing it, he would never survive with live food. A rat would simply annihilate him. People are always afraid of him and I tell them, "He's more terrified of you, trust me".
The Corn snake...she's a different story, she would eat a tin can if I left it in her cage. She'll eat anything, and I mean ANYTHING. She still gets frozen. I pick up a pack of mice at Petsmart and that lasts me two weeks for ten dollars and I know they're safe and easy. I once was in a reptile store and saw a man kill two rats and I promptly got out of the reptile hobby. I've never been in a colder, more testosterone driven hobby and been treated more like an idiot by so many people. I know it's not everyone but the majority of reptile handlers are men and poor specimens at that. So I got into the food aspect of the reptile hobby and I've been more happier with them! Plus they give good kisses!  Blue Dumbo Smile
