Stand for something or you stand for nothing!

I used to have a friend who visited family in England once a year.  She brought me back English candy bars as a thank you for watching her dogs.  One of my favorites was, I believe, Ripples.  The last time I saw her she also brought a box of clotted cream fudge.  Yum!  She's since moved, so I no longer have my candy connection.  With the holidays coming I've been remembering how much I enjoyed these treats.  Mind you, I do love our American candy, but it's fun to have something a little different.  Anyway, I was wondering if someone would mind sending me a Christmas Care package?  I'll be happy to pay for the sweets and postage, of course.

I spent a lot of time in the UK as a child, being a dual citizen. I miss the food SO MUCH, and I found this great website that I've been going to for years to get my goodies:

http://www.britishdelights.com/

I know there are many more sites similar to this that may help you find what you're looking for. Good luck!

One other possibility is that Mars Ripples are really just about exactly the same thing as Cadbury Flakes, if I recall correctly, and I think cadbury products are pretty widely available in the USA, so you might be able to find a locally available substitute that satisfies.

Thanks so much for that link btw, CinemaGeek, I've been REALLY missing my Walker's Worcester chips, and they have them!!! (They're not easy to find, even in the UK)... I've ordered a case of them ^^

I find myself really missing a lot of our 'native' foods too, being an expat brit living in Norway...

Are those the right ones?

I'm lucky and our grocery store carries a lot of British foods.  I'm hoping to go to England next year, (never been) but I'm addicted to Yorkie bars.  (Even if they're not for girls.)

I love this site.  I've used it many times to order many things.  Well, "many" being Walker's crisps and Schweppe's bitter lemon.

I never liked the just chocolate Yorkies, but I liked the raisin & biscuit ones, but I will never buy one again because of that not for girls advert and I hope they've lost loads of money from other females who've done the same!

Ripples are chocolate dipped Flakes, more or less.

Not sure how much postage to the US would be as the fudge would weigh quite heavy.  It would be awful if I bought you some Ripples and fudge, weighed them and you decided it was too expensive, and I'd have to eat them myself  Yellow Cute Laugh Yellow Cute Laugh

Check World Market for imported candy! After vacationing in England years ago I came back and spend a few years obsessively buying English candy bars from there. They carry lots of Cadbury products, and I know I've seen Flakes recently.

Really?  I always thought it was kind of funny, even as a girl. o.o  I don't really see what's all that offensive, they seem to mean it in a fairly lighthearted way.  I dunno, I guess I didn't really see it any different then the way Hungry-man frozen dinners are advertised.  Tongue

World Markets are good!  Oooh, I loved it when we lived near one.  I don't think I live by one anymore.   Undecided

Besides web sites and World Market (which I LURV), I also buy British food from Indian food stores. They usually have a good candy selection. Plus, I can never resist a yummy curry.  Wink

Just a little side note...

Remember the melamine in the pet food, then the melamine in the baby formula?

Well apparently melamine made its way into Cadbury bars sold in England.  Undecided

 /sigh

Everything's poisonous these days! Not that I don't care about the pet food and baby food scandals, I do, truly.  Poisonous chocolate is just wrong on so many levels.  Embarrassed

The interesting thing is that Americans dont seem to truly appreciate the flavor and texture of fine chocolates and candies. If it doesnt weigh a pound have enough sugar to put a diabetic in a coma then its just not available.

Ive noticed hersheys branching out but it doesnt matter what chocolate it is, if its make by hershey it still has a funny hershey taste.  Undecided

I never heard/read that - I can't remember what countries I heard it had got to - maybe Australia? - but not England.

Unfortunately, most of the Cadbury products you find are made in the US by Hershey and are disgusting. Better than the normal Hershey stuff but not as good as English, Australian or NZ Cadburys.

Ripples are chocolate dipped Flakes, more or less.

Wouldn't that make them almost the same as a Cadbury Twirl? My favorites are Twirls and Crunchy bars. Someone in NZ sent me a Flake Noir (dark chocolate) that was to die for. It turned out to be a limited edition thing Sad

When my mum goes back to visit family I also ask her bring me Milk Bottles (ahhhh, childhood memories).

Ahh, I know what yall are talking about!! There is a HUGE difference between American Cadbury's and REAL UK/Aus/NZ Cadbury's. ::::sigh:::

I really, REALLY need a Flake bar right now... Grin
