Tonight I lost my Pasha... I had lost her sister, Pixie, exactly a week ago, last Friday.  I just feel so horrible, I had those girls since they were babies, since I was a senior in high school... they were both about two and a half years old.  I lost Pixie due to cancer, and Pasha from a severe respiratory infection... the vet did give me some meds for her, but she was way too sick and it wasn't helping.  I'm going to miss them so much... I don't think think it was just by chance that they died so close together. I think Pasha just missed her sister so much and she couldn't handle being without her... they were such wonderful little friends  Sad  They kept me company when I was alone, and they always made me laugh and put a smile on my face...

I'm so sorry for both your losses. That's extremely rough---two in a week, man...  Cry I like to think of them both together now, tho, just as they always had been while alive, so one's not lonely. *hugs*

When my grandfather died, no one believed me that my grandmother would follow within the year (even though she had always been the less healthy of the two... he kind of wore himself out taking care of her) - but she did.  And I like to think of them - and of your rats, as quellykin said - together again.  A much nicer way to think of it, I think.  Small consolation for the living, perhaps, but I know you'll pull through this.  *hugs*

Yeah, as bad as it might sound... I'm happy that ol' Pasha has passed on, because she isn't alone anymore.  Thanks you guys, for listening to me... no one really understood how I felt, losing my little girls.

I'm sorry for your double loss. Whenever I read a post about someone losing their ratty, I get the usual depressing thoughts. I haven't lost a ratty, and obviously dread the day. My oldest, Maizie, is three years old, and lets face it, he's not getting any younger. He's quite slow and scruffy. He's eating very well, that will never be an issue. I think he's related to Ace Wink (weighing 1200 grams).

Anyway, I would just like to say that it makes me feel more at ease to know that I have this forum to help me cope when the inevitable happens.

May Pasha and Pixie groom, snuggle and chase each other for eternity...hugs

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I think sadness can definately lead to an earlier death.  I've had it happen to 2 cases.  In both cases the rats had been together since birth and when one went, the other followed very quickly.
