Title: Future Rattie Tattoo *Update: Done!* Post by: Jenn_85 on October 09, 2008, 03:39:24 PM I've been wanting a rattie tattoo for a while, and was inspired by bug.dragon's simple tattoo design. I posted on here to find someone to draw it for me, but didn't really see any one's style that matched to the image I already had in my head. [Although I did find Leonakitty who made me an awesome bookmark and is drawing up a t-shirt design!] I was talking about it at work and one of my coworkers decided to sketch a few things for me. I chose one that I really liked and she turned it into the line style I wanted in Illustrator.
I really like it and will most likely be getting it tattooed in a few weeks! Design [Please no one take it, it's one of a kind.] http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/62/l_245cfb5a0390418e8ccb10301c018b8c.jpg Placement http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/59/l_2a91109ef1e745c7a412f9426c627e47.jpg Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo Post by: Silvermoon_bp on October 09, 2008, 03:47:31 PM I love it! Lovely design and awesome placement!
Can't wait to see the end result! Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo Post by: rhinelander rat rescue on October 09, 2008, 04:06:02 PM OOOO that spot is going to hurt...nice tattoo, but if this is your first one I would reconcider the spot you picked. Shaz

Shaz I have a tattoo there, the first and only one I got. I agree, it hurts like heck. My foot was so swollen and sore that I couldn't make the walk back to my dorm after getting it. And I made the aweful stupid mistake of going to get it by myself. I had no hand to squeeze while the guy worked on it, and it was so hard not to move my foot. But I really like it there now. I like the fact that I can show it off in the summer when I wear flip flops and that I can cover it up if I need to. I had mine strategically placed so that my flip flop straps wouldn't cover it. Actually, I got it specificaly to accent my flip flops. I always get comments on how pretty it is and "Oh, did that hurt?" Getting it sucked, but I don't mind it now. Here's a pic. Placement is adorable. Maybe just have it outlined first, then go get it filled in or have it slowly filled in? I guess just in case it's really painful. I have 2 tattoos. One on my shoulder, that one tickled, didn't hurt. The one on the top of my foot, ouch. 12 am in the morning, some dude laughing at me, my fiance sitting with me, lots of expletive deleted towards the dude laughing at me- for really. :yelcutelaugh: I love my tattoo. They're both of puzzle pieces- the international symbol for autism awareness. I traced it on myself a few times to make sure it was what and where I wanted. Sometimes I think about it...and I'm like...hmmm....was I dumb? But I like having something different. Good luck! (A&D ointment is great to keep it shiny, moisturized, and clean and to help it seal and heal fast). Also I used Lubriderm and it worked great, helped to heal without drying or ruining color. Take tylenol in absolute moderation (just in case you bleed)- it makes you bleed more. I bleed like a stuffed pig. However they bleed. But here I go rambling...and I don't even know if this is your first tattoo or not. Good luck. Love it.
Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo Post by: hairless_love on October 09, 2008, 07:14:09 PM Awww that is way cute! ;D And I'm gonna throw in another "but it's REALLY gonna hurt"! :P
Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo Post by: Jenn_85 on October 09, 2008, 08:45:44 PM Thanks for the advice everyone. It actually won't be my first tattoo. I have one on my hip area. That one didn't hurt too bad, just when it got close to the bone. So I do have some idea of how much it will hurt, especially since my feet are kind of bony, as well as the after care required. (I know I'll have to be extra careful during the healing process because of the location.) I've thought about it for a while and I'm certain I want it on my foot. I've wanted one on my foot for about two years, I just haven't found the right one until now.
Cheerio, I'm actually not getting it filled in. I just want the outline. :) I like the simplicity of it. Arumberg, I really like yours! I like how mine will be a "decoration" for my foot in almost any shoes I wear. I'll definitely have someone with me when I get it. I have a week-long training class coming up for work, so I'm thinking about getting it before that, since I will just be sitting in a classroom all week, off my feet. I figure it won't matter if it's swollen then. I'm so excited! ;D Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo Post by: betti_page on October 09, 2008, 08:56:23 PM aw man. i'm jealous. that is going to be the cutest tattoo ever
Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo Post by: cheerio on October 10, 2008, 12:13:16 PM Swelling wasn't an issue for me. Just keeping my foot in a shoe was a problem. I had it done in the summer/fall so I could wear sandals and open toes and dress shoes to avoid having an issue with possible ink transfer. Good luck! :poke: make sure to post pics!
Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo Post by: anita1216 on October 10, 2008, 04:56:58 PM Lovely!!!! I have ink on the top of my foot and it was rather annoying to say the least LOL Made it hard to wear shoes for a couple of days. Its one of my favorite tattoos though.
Good Luck!!!!! Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo Post by: Jenn_85 on October 10, 2008, 07:10:38 PM Luckily I live in AZ and can wear flip-flops pretty much year-round. As for work, I can wear the flats in the placement picture.
I'll have to wait until after Halloween though, since I just realized the shoes for my costume have a strap that goes across the foot. Title: Rattie Tattoo! Post by: Jenn_85 on November 22, 2008, 10:33:53 PM I finally got my tattoo today! I had it drawn up a few months ago, and have been waiting for the right time to get it. Well, I couldn't wait any longer and got it today! I love it. It's so cute, simple, and I love the placement. It didn't hurt too bad after the initial stick, especially since it's just an outline.
Getting it done, by Jayare at Idle Hands Tattoo in Mesa, AZ. (http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/55/l_9c7face2120542548b94088abb52618a.jpg) Done! I love it! Title: Re: Rat Tattoo! Post by: Popcorn on November 23, 2008, 01:31:19 AM Wow! Love it!! :thumbsup2:
Did it hurt? I've always wanted to get a tattoo on my foot but when I asked about it my tattoo artist said it's one of the worst places to get one! Title: Re: Rat Tattoo! Post by: DorseyClairebelle on November 23, 2008, 01:44:46 AM So cute!!
Title: Re: Rattie Tattoo! Post by: Jenn_85 on November 23, 2008, 01:57:35 AM Thank you everyone. I am so happy with it!
Popcorn, it did hurt a bit, but nothing unbearable. The initial stick hurt the worst and then it was okay, just a bit uncomfortable. The whole thing only took about 25 minutes, so it wasn't too bad. I don't think it hurt any more than the one on my hip. Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo *Update: Done!* Post by: Jenn_85 on November 23, 2008, 11:50:52 AM I forgot that I had made this thread, and made another one in Random Chatter. http://www.goosemoose.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,118/forum,rat/topic,4046412.0

I have a portrait of my dog on my left shoulder and it wasn't that bad, I think my foot would really hurt though.

Yeah, I've had it drawn out for a while, I was just waiting to get it. I kept putting the transparency I made of it on my foot to make sure I really liked it. But, once I made up my mind, I had to have it right then! I decided on Thursday, I made my appointment on Friday, and got it done on Saturday! Title: Re: Rattie Tattoo! Post by: hairless_love on November 24, 2008, 01:56:37 PM It turned out really really well! I love it and am super jealous! ;D
Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo *Update: Done!* Post by: Jenn_85 on November 24, 2008, 02:05:41 PM julztoni97, it wasn't that bad. The first line hurt, but then it was okay. It only took about 25 minutes, and then I didn't even remember the pain, lol!

Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo *Update: Done!* Post by: Rattenfänger on November 24, 2008, 03:58:29 PM I wish any of my tattoos were done is less than 25 minutes!! I've never spent less than 2 hours at the needle... oh well...
And your tattoo is very cute! The lines are very nice, he did a good job with it. Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo *Update: Done!* Post by: Chaosbadgerling on November 25, 2008, 03:45:44 AM That is so cute.
I want something like this on my ankle, only a little less cartoonish (yeah, I drew it, my drawing, I fail). (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s286/chaosbadgerling/rat%20tattoo/IMG_0112.jpg) Or, in the same spot *goes to find a pic* (http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s286/chaosbadgerling/rat%20tattoo/P2060008-2-1.jpg) *giggles* and wanders off to make own thread. Title: Re: Future Rattie Tattoo *Update: Done!* Post by: RascalRatties on November 25, 2008, 09:41:28 AM Awesome, I LOVE it! I planned on getting a tatoo back in may, and I had decided on a Lily, only the night before I was up all night going....flower, a rat...flower, a rat??!! I finally did decide on the flower, and I did get it on my foot. Yours probably hurt but not too much since there is no fill color. Mine was colored in and hurt like Heck!!!!!! I'll never get another on my foot but I liked the outcome of it.
Congrats! :balloon: ;D |
