I just got a rescue hamster (syrian) that was being kept in the TINIEST cage in the world, now she's in an old rat Qtine cage and finally has space for a wheel...  She runs on it ALL night, but she's got little scabs (like the size of a pin-head, only one on each foot) and I think its because she's running so much.  Her wheel is one of those wire grid (not the ladder type, but with wire squares) that I've covered with that crochetting mesh (or knitting?  i dunno, i'm not crafty, but its plastic and TINY mesh) but I'm assuming that since she's never had a wheel before, her little feets aren't used to so much activity.  Should I be worried/remove the wheel?  Or is she just developing calouses (sp?)?  She's otherwise healthy, eating, drinking, sleeping lots.  Its just two itty bitty little scabs on her back feet that I'm concerned about.

Thanks!
