RIP Topaz, I Miss You!!

« on: November 01, 2007, 05:08:03 PM »

At the pet supply store where my mother and I sell hammocks they have some dwarf hamsters for adoption.  Someone had brought them in when they bought 1 male and 1 female from antoher pet store and was told they were both males.  Roll Eyes  When I went in there were only 2 (one boy and one girl, housed together in a my first hom hamster cage,) and the owner told me 12 more will be brought in.  If anyone's interested I can either take pictures or pick a few up until you can pick them up from my home.  The two I saw were incredbly sweet and dind't mind being held at all (I had to sex them for the store owner.)  They're asking $5 each but I think the price went down on the more you got (they want them gone, and don't oppse live snake feeding, hence my post.)  I'm considering taking a couple in myself, so email me or reply here if interested.  They were gray in color.  They're being kept on carefresh and fed a seed mix right now in the store.

I'm probably going back in this Wed. to check on them and maybe bring a few home depending how many they have (if they're over run with them, I'll bring a few that will be available for adoption.)  So if anyone's interested let me know.

So I'm going in tomorrow and will most likely bring some boys home, depending on how many they have.  I say boys because most likely all females are pregnant and I have no room for litters right now.  If anyone's interested in adopting these little critters let me know asap.

So I went in today on the intent of getting some of these kids out of there, and the ones they already had have found home (yippee!) They said within 2 weeks they'll be getting the 12 babies from an accidental litter which they don't ahve room for, so I'll be taking either all the males, or females, depending how many and if they're housed together (I won't take pregnant girls, unless someone out there really wants her!)

just got a call from the store and they had gotten in 10 of these hamsters.  They can't tell male from female.  Not sure when I'll be heading in next time because of the winter storm.  I'll have to play it by ear.  I may end up with all the males they have, which will be looking for homes.

Okay, hopefully this will be the last update on these guys 'til I get them.  I'm going in tomorrow to get the males (not sure how many there are,) and they will be up here for adoption shortly after I make sure everyone is healthy.

I forgot to update this.  All the males were already gone when I got there, leaving the females behind.  They were all housed together, and I can't take on a litter right now, so I don't have any dwarfs needing homes.  Blue Dumbo Smile
