*Mods, feel free to move this to one of the adoption forums, I just didn't know which one.*

One of our guinea pigs had babies in store. There are three females and one male. The black is a male abyssian, the one female is agouti (or whatever it's called in pigs) abyssian, the other females are rust and white and look to be rexy. If you're interested in adopting any of the babies let me know and I'll give you a location! They are almost four weeks old. We handle them when we can so they aren't bitey, but they are a little skittish.

if they're 4 weeks old get that boar OUT of the cage with momma and the babies
you're risking back breeding Mom with the son
I would strongly suggest not selling Mom or allowing the baby girls to go anywhere for at least 6 weeks to make sure they're not pregnant already if the boar hasn't been removed from the cage

hope you find homes for them -

They're about 3.5 weeks and I took the boy out on Monday night. Had anyone else taken the initiative to look up their sexual maturation rate they would have been seperated a little earlier.  Roll Eyes As it was I told them Saturday and ended up just doing it myself next time I worked. At that age from what I've read I think we're pretty safe. If personal experience has taught anyone otherwise, please let me know so I can warn any potential adopters.

good job on getting him out of there and yes unfortunately personal experience talking here
I had a 2 1/2 week old boar back breed mom  Roll Eyes
they are randy little buggers!  At the first hint of "typical male behavior" I get them OUT of the cages ASAP and they're put with one of my older retired stud boars (the grandpa's of my bunch LOL)
They're usually safe up till 3-4 weeks but if your luck is anything like mine you have an early maturer among your group hehehe

we breed and show white crested and lilac American cavies here through 4-H, ARBA, ACBA and MACBA.  I've seen a few sows go home with surprise packages for the new owners not too far down the road...
it's scary for the new owners for sure!

wouldn't hurt to give anyone that adopts a potential head's up.  Might be a 1 in 50 chance but that one chance is enough to get someone REALLY upset if they had no warning!

thanks for helping momma and her pups out
