hi,I have a big space in the side of my hamsters cage so I was wondering if you could use a hammock for a hamster? Will she chew it?
Thanks

All animals chew hammocks. I think your hamster would love if you put a hammock in his cage!

I think it would depend on the hamster, but as long as the hammock is where she can reach and won't hurt herself if she falls, I'm sure she'd most likely love it!  Smiley

My hammie likes to climb on the ceiling of her cage, so I've placed a hammock to break her fall. She hasn't chewed on it yet and seems to use it as a trampoline (her bed is under her wheel in the corner). I'd give it a shot since you have the space; she may really enjoy it.

I wouldn't. Hamsters aren't as bright as rats and often stuff the chewed up material from hammocks or even eat it (usually by accident) this can get caught in ther digestive tract/system. I would avoid any toys with material along with cotten bedding.

Their are countless of safe toys for hamsters. What do you have so far?

My hamsters actually their homemade toys a lot. I get ideas from here: http://hamsterhideout.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2892

Most plastic and wooden toys sold for hamster are safe. Wink

Right now I have a wheel, water bottle, food, cereal box for sleeping, and a lego house in her cage pretty boring so I want some homemade toys that are pretty easy to make. Blue Dumbo Big Eyes
