Hi! So some of you may have read my post about my baby mice. Well, I think I've run into a problem.  Undecided I got them out tonight and i noticed that almost half are missing little patches of hair. Theres not any cuts on the skin thankfully. But i really dont know how theyre loosing it. I havent seen Sadie (mommy) or Willow (nanny) go after them, so i dont think its that. I hear them squeaking a lot but i just thought it was them playing with each other, now im not so sure. Theyre not 4 weeks old yet (they will be on the 28th) but i was wondering if they are still too young to separate? Maybe that will help? I really dont know what I should do. At first I was thinking maybe the boys were starting to fight already, but its on some girls too.. so i dont know. I cant find the cord to my camera, but when i do ill post some pics so you can see what it looks like. So yeah, any ideas or info would be great. Thanks!

It could be lice or mites.  I have had that problem with pet mice before and it turned out to be lice.  Wouldn't hurt to dose everyone with revolution.  That would be my guess as to what is going on.

Crap, I was hoping it wasnt that. I've never had to deal with mites or lice before, so would I have to get that at the vet, or are there some petstores that carry it?? Then i was thinking though that its weird that Sadie and Willow dont have any kind of fur missing or anything like that. But like you said, getting some of the revolution wouldnt hurt. Oh yeah, and does it go on the skin or would i have to give it to them orally (haha, now that would be interesting)?

You can get revolution online from www.petshed.com .  I am unsure about mouse doseage requirements as I would think a drop would be too much.  But typically, you put a drop of revolution between the shoulder blades (part the fur and apply to the skin).  Wait for it to dry, you don't want them to groom it off and it is not meant to be an oral application.  If you go to the vet you can get some there, or they may prescribe you ivermectin.

I would treat all of them as the others probably just aren't showing symptoms as they probably have better immune systems than the younger mice.

Alright, thanks! As soon as I'm done writing this I'm going to go check the website out. I think to be safe, I might put some on the ratties too. They havent showed any signs, but better safe then sorry i guess. What about me? I wanna revolution-ize myself now! (jk!) Things like that give me the heebee geebee's. hahaha

I would order the cat sized tubes, the next size up from kitten/puppy.  It is the same price, same concentration, just more per bottle.  So you can treat more animals for the same price.  It comes with 3 tubes though, which last forever in my experience!

NO, if you're going to use revolution get the kitten one. You DONT want that high concentration for MICE...I mean they're TINY and it's very, very easy to get the dose wrong.

The cat and kitten have the SAME dose.  There is just more liquid in the cat tube.  You can also purchase the small dog, it also has the same dose as kitten and cat formulas.  But it is the exact same as the kitten tube.
