Mhm so my parents and I finally decided on new pets. We're going to get two Robo Hamsters tomorrow, but I haven't had hamsters in a very long time. Soo..suggestions on good hamster care? I'm not sure if there are certain things I should know such as health concerns, or special hamster habits. I'd appreciate any help at all :]

I wouldn't get robo hamsters at as a first hamster or even if you haven't had them for a while. I suggest campell's dwarf or syrian hamsters. They are friendlier and like to be held more. Robo's are more a hands off pet. They are tiny and hyper so it is super hard to hold them!

I also suggest to get a Syrian hamster instead, if you want a pet that's more people friendly. Just remember that Syrian hamsters are solitary animals, so should only be kept alone.

winter white dwarfs are nice, Robo are just soo fast. We have them at petsmart and they are very popular because they are cute and since we stop carring all the big hamsters because of wettail issues petsmart only has dwarfs. As for suggestions

food: mazuri pellets
Bedding: Aspen
Treats: Yogut drops
also.. wheel, something to chew, water bottle, food dish and house.

any questions just ask im knew for my small animal experience

I too would not suggest roborovskis as they are so fast, hyper and often very nervous. If you want dwrafs try winter white dwarfs or russian campbell dwarfs. Once tamed they make great pets! All of my current dwarfs brux (just like rats) and groom me. C= But it seems as though you may have gotten the robo's already.

I would suggest going for a tank or a bin cage(google it). They are hard to escape from and provid elot sof room. A 20 gallon long aquarium or a bin cage close to the same size would be the perfect size. Hamsters need a lot of room even though they are small. If you do get a pair fo dwarfs you will need two wheels, a few houses/hidey places and a large enough food dish for both of them to be able to sit in.

Dwarfs are prone to diabetes so it is best to keep them on a diet as though they were diabetic. So no corn, peas, carrots or fruits and no store bought treats. They all have to much sugar. My hamsters hate the lab block diet so I keep them on a seed mix diet. I like harry/hazel hamster I just pick out any corn and peas and then most of the sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and peanust as they are fattening. It takes me 10 minutes to feed nine hamsters in this manner. Wink
