I thought she was going to explode she got soooo big. But finally i came home from work today to the sound of squeaking. i peeked in and took these two shots with my camera and left her alone. Hopefully they all grow big and strong!  Party Balloon Blue Dumbo Smile

Aww, how cute! Mom and the nanny (I'm assuming?) are pretty mice. Hope the babies grow up big and healthy! But in the future, you're not supposed to disturb mom or look at the babies at all until the third day, even just to peek.

Yeah i just couldnt help myself. i used to have mice before and they were never bothered by it but they had been raised by me since they were fuzzies themselves and trusted me.

That isn't true. If your mice are comfortable with you, you can look immediately after the birth, or even during. I have been breeding show mice for nearly 2 years and I never have a problem looking at, and even holding, the babies as soon as they are born.

That may be true, if the mouse is very familliar with you. I don't have any breeding experience myself so I guess I really shouldn't talk, but the people over at The Fun Mouse always say to wait three days as a precaution. That's where I get all my information from  Wink

Haha, true. But when I hear it over and over for people who have been breeding mice for years, I tend to believe it  Tongue But everybody has their own way, and if your way works for you, then great  Wink I'd just rather be on the safe side, myself.

Very cute! i have a rescued gal due anyday now.

In the second picture, one of the babies looks VERY pale. Don't be surprised if it doesn't make it. My rat had 10 babies (21 days ago), and the 1 that died looked just like that.

I agree. Smiley  That is what I was trying to point out.

Just a little side note as background info on me- I had a mouse beat a TFM Dainty's mouse in the most recent Midwest Mouse Club show, which I also won Best in Show and Reserve Champion, among other awards, so I, too, know what I'm talking about when it comes to properly breeding and keeping mice.  I know how those forums can get and, IMO, they restrict free-thinking and decision making among breeders when it relates to practices.

I just do not see a problem with her peeking at the babies from an early age. Hopefully her momma mouse won't mind either.  Wink

I know what you mean when it comes to restricting free thinking. Ive been part of alot of forums for different animals and thats one thing ive learnt alot. Ive learnt to read between the lines, take everything with a grain of salt and in the end you tend to learn what is truth and what is mith and what can be an in between.

Like ive been told by alot of people that male mice will fight, yet i had a cage with males for a long time(Non related) and they never ever fought and actually enjoyed each others company. I found them snuggling in their hut often.Sadlly had to get rid of them when i moved out of province to be with my boyfriend. I miss those little guys..

Well see in a few days how the pinkys are doing Cheesy. Cant wait for them to start developing traits. hopefully i get some solid golden colored ones like their dad.

Sorry guys, I wasn't trying to sound like I didn't think you knew what you were doing. I just wanted to pass on what I knew just in case. Sorry if it came off the wrong way. And sorry for taking this thread off-topic ^^;

Congrats on your wins, ECM!

And ILoveWinston, you are planning on keeping us updated with pics when those guys start getting their fur in, right?  Wink

Aww, baby mice are so fun.

I ended up with a prego mouse when I was little (8 maybe?) and we didn't really know for sure (although she had gotten huge and we -were- pretty sure about it) that she was prego, and one day when I went to play with her and turned her roll a nest over to get her out, two little pinkies fell out. That was a surprise! She didn't kill any of her babies, even after that and use checking everything out. She had a lot of hidey houses and moved her babies a few times that I can remember.

The Fun Mouse is not anywhere I'd want to get mouse information, and that's all I have to say about that.

As for babies...adorable!!! Update

I handle mine from day one as well, and I handle them a lot. Well, handled, no more mice for me for a good while. My youngest 3 have a 1-year birthday coming up.
