Amoung the ratless but surrounded by angels

« on: May 12, 2008, 05:58:18 AM »

I'm so excited that I'm going off to college in a little bit more than a year. I've picked out two beautiful colleges to apply for, Penn State Hazleton and Penn State Berks. I go for my SAT test on June 7 which I'm currently studying for. It's all so exciting!
For some reason my mom doesn't understand that I'm not going to college while living at home, I know that it wouldn't work because going to high school is a challenge by living here mostly because the lack of privacy and encouragment from my  parents. If I live on campus it would cut my transportantion cost in half, I can make more friends, get modivation from my peers, ect.
I can't wait!

oh, my... well- give it a year before you make that call.  turns out i had more privacy in my house than my dorm.  Plus you'll really start missing proper food.

but it is an experience, I'll give you that.  Just be prepared for a proverbial smack in the privacy department.  Yellow Cute Laugh

The way my house is set up is to get to the only downstairs bathroom you need to go through my room. There is an upstairs bathroom but my mom can't walk upstairs and has to use the bathroom a lot.

Hmmm

Sounds like a dorm room might be an improvement in that case.  Thinking of attending summer session?

No, Fall and Spring.
I found another reason dorm living would be good for me, I can do my own wash and have it when I need it. I can't find me gym clothes  .

Ooh, this is an exciting time.  Make sure you still enjoy your last year of high school, though.  Yes, I highly suggest living away from home during college.  You do so much growing up during that time, and it really is great to finally have your independence.  I think it makes you more responsible, which will definitely help you in the grades department.  I do agree, however, that dorms are not really private.  There's usually no way you can study in your room, just because of the noise level.  But, the good thing about living on campus is that you can go to the library any time you want.  Of course, another option is living in an apartment off-campus, possible with roommates.  That way, you still get your independence and you have more quiet time.

Congrats and good luck with the SATs!
