So, I made a thread about a week ago, about how 1 of my guinea pigs, Holly, got sick and passed away. It was very hard for me, and i still cry at the thought of it, and how I should have done more to save her...
Anyways...her sister, Lacey, got really depressed. She wasn't showing any signs of illness, she just would lay there and she wouldn't eat, and she had a sad look in her eyes. She looked so confused, so lost.
So I scrubbed the cage, and bought all new toys, and I also came home with 2 young friends for her. The cage is now totally decked out in toys, and the 2 young ones are really loving it. Lacey has even perked up. They all get along and sleep together, but Lacey and Mandy just have this ongoing arguement over god only knows what. They're not vicious, they are just acting like children lol. If one touches the other, Mandy will scream, like "MOM, Lacey TOUCHED me!
And then of course Lacey will sneak up on Mandy and headbutt her in the butt, and that turns into Mandy screaming (Mandy is almost always making some sort of noise lol), and both of them running around in circles, seeking revenge, haha. .
Hershey Kiss (aka Hershey), on the other hand, is completely oblivious lol. She sleeps with them, they both like her, but they don't fight with her or anything. So when it comes down to dinner time or treat time, Hershey just sits there waiting, and gets all the food, while Lacey and Mandy are busy trying to irritate each other.
Mandy is a complete nerd-o like Lacey, and freaks out if I try to pick her up. She screams, scratches, and kicks me with her back paws, until i have her wrapped up and held against me. Then she falls asleep.
Mandy is my daredevil, too. I had all 3 on my bed, (it's a bunkbed without the bottom bunk) and Lacey and Hershey were curled up on me, and Mandy was busy running around, and, of course, flooding my brand new comforter with pee, and then she JUMPED OFF MY BED!!!!!
She was fine, but still!!! She totally could have died! No more bunkbed adventures for Mandy!
Hershey is a complete love bug. She lets me reach in and pet her, she looooves being held, and she gives me kisses.
Lacey is still trying to figure out what happened lol. Lacey and Holly were never really that close. They were both bought at the same time, and had been living together since they were born (Lacey is 2 1/2 and Holly would be too, if she were still alive), but they always slept separate from each other and never really interacted. But once Holly got sick, Lacey started sleeping next to her, and cuddling with her, and she was there when she died, which must have been hard. And then I bring in these 2 little crazy piggies, she must be all wtf?? lol. But I haven't seen her this active since she was a piglet, so i think this was a good thing.
I am having a hard time with it tho, because I still am mourning the loss of Holly, and I am having a hard time getting attached to Mandy and Hershey. They look different, act different, and smell different, and i am just really having a hard time. But Lacey and Holly smell(ed) alike, and had the same cowlick, so whenever I start missing Holly, I just pick up Lacey and I close my eyes, and breathe it all in, and my head fills with memories.
I will never stop loving Holly, and I will always miss her. But I love Lacey and these new piggies as well. So i think it will be okay in the end.
