A pair of hamsters was taken from a shelter with their litter of babies.  They're still pretty young, have markings but no fur (5-7 days?) but I figure that since the male was left in with the female, she's probably pregnant again and there will be even more, so I had better start looking for homes now. Tongue

Right now, there are *Supposedly* 6 babies.  I've seen 5 out at one time.  I'm not about ready to dig in and start looking for them all.  All have markings similar to the parents but one, who may be a PEW.  (Completely pink, eyes and all it looks like)

No idea on genders.

Not a very good picture, but as I said, I'm not about to go messing around in there. Tongue

I couldn't get a good one of the parents, but both look like a hamster of mine.

So they're whatever kind of hamster that is? Tongue  Campbell's, I think?

Located in Rockford, and we have limited transportation.  However, I could probably pester some people to help transport them.

ETA: There are 3 girls, 4 boys.. I think...

New pictures!  Babies' eyes have opened, so that would mean they're about 2 weeks now.  Only 2-3 weeks before they're ready to go home.  Wink

Update: The first litter is estimated to be over 3 weeks old now, and living on their own away from momma.  Momma had 6 or 7 more babies the other day, so there is a plethora of hamsters.   Yellow Cute Laugh  I'm sure these will end up being just as cute as the first.

Few hours or so after birth:

All the babies from the first litter look more or less the same, apart from the one argente baby.  Most are fairly tolerant of being picked up, just a bit skittish.  That should be less by the time they're old enough to go home in a week or so.

Just for your information, dwarfs can have a litter every 16 days...Also good to separate out the males at 4 weeks.

It's actually closer to 18-21 days from what I've read.

On top of that, dad was in the shelter with the mom when she gave birth there, not at my house.  So, just for your information, but I'm not an idiot and am well aware.

Also, the adoption forum isn't for discussions.   So unless you're interested in adopting them, it's my understanding you shouldn't be posting your 'advice'.

Sorry, should have put that in my title.

We're located in IL, so waaaay far from San Antonio.

Also, to update, the babies are 4 weeks oldish, 5 boys, 2 girls.  Sweet babies, too.

Of the second litter, there are 6, not 7.  I don't know if I miscounted or one disappeared.  (Either is possible.)  They're starting to get color, and once again, there is 1 argente/ruby eyes, and the rest are agouti.  No idea on genders yet.
