Some pictures of the 7 Campbell's dwarf babies I have.  I *estimate* they are now 10ish days old, they've started nibbling lab blocks and will know for sure when their eyes open.  One argente, the rest are just normal 'boring' brown.

But they're cute!   Heart  (though, really starting to count down the days before I can change the cage. :S)  Much love to my camera's macro function, too.  <3  I can't believe these turned out.

that was yesterday or the day before, I think.

These are from today:

If I'm sexing them right, the one on the left/bottom is a boy, and teh one on the far right is a girl?  No idea on how many of each gender, haven't touched the little guys.

The wander around blindly.  It's adorable.

Older pictures:

And, you know, if anyone lives in the IL area, they are for adoption, too. Wink

Russian Campbell's dwarfs, I think?  Parents look just like my male, who's a pretty sweet old guy.  But yeah, I don't think it'll be hard for me to handle the babies. Tongue  some of their eyes have opened, so I'm going to clean out the cage either tomorrow or the day after.

Babies have open eyes, and are doing great!  Mom is getting a bit tired of mothering, though.   Yellow Cute Laugh

Oooooh!*squeals and falls on floor* Those pictures are ADORABLE!! Stop making me miss my hamster!  Blue Dumbo Big Eyes Roll Eyes She was a beige-colored dwarf hammie. Smiley I wish I could've seen her as a baby..  Undecided Still, though, adorable babies!

By the way..Where are you located? I might just sneak in while you're sleeping and borrow one of the babies..Or all of them,I've got plenty of roomy cages. Cheeky Edit: Aw,crud,I didn't notice the bit where you said you live in IL..  Puppy Dog Eyes:

You know, the little argente one IS a girl.   Cheeky  But I don't know where you are or how easy it would be to transport them.    Puppy Dog Eyes:

Got the cage cleaned tonight, and did a count on genders.  Looks like 3 girls, 4 boys.  Mom can use her wheel again, and is thrilled.  Tongue  she's.. well, done with the mothering thing.  Still nurses them ocassionally, but pretty much avoids them the rest of the time.  Mom and Dad both seem super sweet, just haven't been handled much lately I'm guessing.  They'll crawl into your hand and you can pet them, they're just a little hesitant.  Hopefully the babies get the same personality. Tongue

Best group shot I could get! Tongue

They're so cute! If only they stayed that size  Yellow Cute Laugh

nevadamoon, I still have your 10 gal(and gerbils), and we have a screen top to go with it now.  We may give you a call to see if we can set something up this weekend (we're going all the way down to Chicago to meet a woman about a dog, and would like to knock out a few other chores on the way.)

Aww! I want that one!  Hyper Cheeky But,I'm much too far away from where you live,if you know where Maine is.  Undecided And that would be too hard on the babies, besides I much prefer seeing them all curled up to their mommy.  Heart Ratty Smiley

(By the way, either that's a HUGE wheel,or it just looks big, compared to the babies. Smiley And those blocks they're eating, they look a bit like Rat/Mouse food blocks? )

Gosh, they don't get THAT big. Tongue   Would be cute, though.

We should be around, so just let us know!  Husband has work this afternoon, but he knows his schedule better then I do.

Maine would be pretty hard to safely get them to.  At least, I don't know.  But they're so little, I can't imagine it'd be a fun trip for them.  Sad

I think it just looks big? Idk. Tongue  The cage is some kind of.. Animal planet monstrosity that is larger then a critter trail, but the wheel doens't really look much larger.  They're eating Harlan Tekklan right now (Mmm, protein!) with a bit of hamster seed mix tossed in.  It's the same thing I feed my rats/mouse/all my small critters.  I've had a hard time finding good hamster blocks, and the seeds just seem to make them fat.   Puppy Dog Eyes:

I have the gerbils on Oxbow Hamster/gerbil diet.  They wouldn't touch the HT very much, but go nuts over the oxbow.  I think it's called "Healthy Handfuls" that I buy from Mounds Pet Food Warehouse in Janesville.  Though I'm sure HT is just as fine, I just trust the ingrediants of oxbow for them than I do the HT...of course, this is gerbils I'm blabbing about, not hamsters.

I'll have to look into getting some of that.  Everyone seems to like it fine enough, but I'd feel better giving them something a little more specific to them.  I'll have to figure out if Janesville is too far for us to drive or what.

Psst, I got to Janesville a few times a week, Just ask and I can pick some up for you. I believe I paid $7 for a 5 lb. bag, and with 6 gerbils it has lasted about a month.

Will do, have to pick some up for our gerbs anyways.

Don't want to hijack, but...
Oh, and how are your soft furs on the HT?  My first three would not touch it and would only eat crappy seed mix.  I tried a bag of oxbow regal rat and all of them go nuts over it.

They seem to like it.  I mean, they eat the seeds first (Oh, and they learned how to hide the lab blocks and wait for more seeds. Tongue) But they do eat it.  Maybe I just have less picky ones?  That, or I'm assuming they're more likely to just eat it unhappily then starve themselves.  (I'm sucha  meanie.. But they have grown huge, so I'll assume they've been caving in.)
