I hadn't had guinea pigs in awhile, and last week, I got 2 that were needing a home.  Before he got here, he was best described by his most prominent feature, which has led to the name he now has- Butt Bow. (BB for short.)  The other piggy is also pretty handsome, but I can't decide if I'm going to call him Hank, or Zeke.  Or something else altogether.

This is BB's pretty friend.

And this is BB.  It should be obvious why he's called Butt Bow.

Anyway, it's pretty fun having piggies again, and it's the first time I've had a boy (Only ever had one girl before) and they have a whole slew of different noises.   Today, we're putting together a C&C cage (though, we have to put the coroplast on order, so I guess just a C cage?) and so I'm excited.   Hyper

Random question (Kind of) but what's the best way to make sure they're getting the vitamins they need, especially C?  I'd always been told the "Feed 1/4 an orange per piggy a day" but I'll see all these other products to provide them with C, like water drops, etc, and I just wasn't sure what was the best for them?

You can find incredible information on www.guinealynx.com.  Don't mess with drops in the water.  They're not necessary and may cause them to drink less due to the change in taste.  Use a good quality timothy hay based pellet that already has the vitamin C in it (I use Oxbow brand, Cavy Cuisine), and I'm sure you know that they should always have unlimited timothy or orchard hay.   Lack of adequate vitamin C can result in scurvy.  For those cases that have come in, I supplement with a portion of a chewable vitamin C tablet.  They usually take them from my hand like candy!  I'll give the occasional vitamin C to my herd too, but just not necessary every day.   If you have any problems getting the coroplast, let me know.  My local sign store sells sheets for $15 each.

Butt Bow and friend are gorgeous!  I'm liking the name Zeke.   Cheesy

Yup, we use Timothy at our house.  :3  Always a huge supply.. and all over the floor.

Coroplast is about double that price (at least) here, so it'd be awesome if you could get us some. :3  I'll get the exact measurements for you (Just put the C&C cage together!).  Need to figure out a way to make it two stories safely.. The size I originally wanted I got told was 'excessive'.  (Roll Eyes what do men know about housing Guinea pigs?)  So I'll have to build up if I want it larger.   Yellow Cute Laugh  (Okay, so it's about 2 panels wide, and about 6' long.. I think...)

Yeah, I'm leaning most towards Zeke.  I was just about settled on Hank, but then when I was looking at his pictures the name Zeke popped in my head.

Is there an easy way to make the pigloos sturdier?   :S  I'm about to hot glue the things together- they're experts at tearing them apart even when they're connected.  (Into a megapigloo)
