Sweepy Ratties!

« on: October 09, 2008, 03:39:24 PM »

I've been wanting a rattie tattoo for a while, and was inspired by bug.dragon's simple tattoo design.  I posted on here to find someone to draw it for me, but didn't really see any one's style that matched to the image I already had in my head.  [Although I did find Leonakitty who made me an awesome bookmark and is drawing up a t-shirt design!] I was talking about it at work and one of my coworkers decided to sketch a few things for me.  I chose one that I really liked and she turned it into the line style I wanted in Illustrator.

I really like it and will most likely be getting it tattooed in a few weeks!

Design [Please no one take it, it's one of a kind.]

I have a tattoo there, the first and only one I got. I agree, it hurts like heck. My foot was so swollen and sore that I couldn't make the walk back to my dorm after getting it. And I made the aweful stupid mistake of going to get it by myself. I had no hand to squeeze while the guy worked on it, and it was so hard not to move my foot. But I really like it there now. I like the fact that I can show it off in the summer when I wear flip flops and that I can cover it up if I need to. I had mine strategically placed so that my flip flop straps wouldn't cover it. Actually, I got it specificaly to accent my flip flops. I always get comments on how pretty it is and "Oh, did that hurt?" Getting it sucked, but I don't mind it now.

Here's a pic.

I love that tattoo. It's so cute. Placement is adorable. Maybe just have it outlined first, then go get it filled in or have it slowly filled in? I guess just in case it's really painful. I have 2 tattoos. One on my shoulder, that one tickled, didn't hurt. The one on the top of my foot, ouch. 12 am in the morning, some dude laughing at me, my fiance sitting with me, lots of expletive deleted towards the dude laughing at me- for really.  Yellow Cute Laugh I love my tattoo. They're both of puzzle pieces- the international symbol for autism awareness. I traced it on myself a few times to make sure it was what and where I wanted. Sometimes I think about it...and I'm like...hmmm....was I dumb? But I like having something different. Good luck! (A&D ointment is great to keep it shiny, moisturized, and clean and to help it seal and heal fast). Also I used Lubriderm and it worked great, helped to heal without drying or ruining color. Take tylenol in absolute moderation (just in case you bleed)- it makes you bleed more. I bleed like a stuffed pig. However they bleed. But here I go rambling...and I don't even know if this is your first tattoo or not.  Blue Dumbo Smile Good luck. Love it.

Thanks for the advice everyone.  It actually won't be my first tattoo.  I have one on my hip area.  That one didn't hurt too bad, just when it got close to the bone.  So I do have some idea of how much it will hurt, especially since my feet are kind of bony, as well as the after care required.  (I know I'll have to be extra careful during the healing process because of the location.)  I've thought about it for a while and I'm certain I want it on my foot.  I've wanted one on my foot for about two years, I just haven't found the right one until now.

Cheerio, I'm actually not getting it filled in.  I just want the outline.  Smiley  I like the simplicity of it.

Arumberg, I really like yours!  I like how mine will be a "decoration" for my foot in almost any shoes I wear.  I'll definitely have someone with me when I get it.  I have a week-long training class coming up for work, so I'm thinking about getting it before that, since I will just be sitting in a classroom all week, off my feet.  I figure it won't matter if it's swollen then.

I'm so excited!  Grin

Swelling wasn't an issue for me. Just keeping my foot in a shoe was a problem. I had it done in the summer/fall so I could wear sandals and open toes and dress shoes to avoid having an issue with possible ink transfer. Good luck!  make sure to post pics!

Luckily I live in AZ and can wear flip-flops pretty much year-round.  As for work, I can wear the flats in the placement picture.

I'll have to wait until after Halloween though, since I just realized the shoes for my costume have a strap that goes across the foot.
