Title: Need help deciding what size a cage to buy
Post by: Madmanzx on July 06, 2005, 12:38:31 PM
I recently purchased two female rats along with a cage because these were my first rats so I didn't have another cage I could use.  When I asked the Petsmart employee what size cage I needed she said that a 12 inch high, 12 inch wide and 24 inch long cage would be sufficient.  I noticed that it seemed too small for 2 rats and when I checked it with the cage calculator I was right.  Now I have to buy another one but I didn't know what cage would be good for two rats and give them ample play space inside of the cage.  If anyone could reccommend something I would appreciate it.

martins has really good cages and there is a post (sticky) in this section that compares the different cages.   Just make sure to get powder coated

I have two female rats in a Martin's R695, and it is more than enough space for them to play. It also is big enough that if I decide to get more, I have room for four or five! Since rats seem to be addictive, I thought this was a good choice.
